Posting Videos in Threads:

Once you have a video uploaded to youtube, if you are on the youtube site watching the video, grab the URL from your address bar:
If the YT link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t11klyI91g

Now, go back to your NDL Forums and click on the youtube button in the row of tools such as bold, italic, underline, quote, etc., out to the right, you will see a youtube button as you can see in the pic below:

Image

In your thread where you want to embed the video, clicking that button will give you:

Now simply place the ID# (1t11klyI91g) after the equals sign from your youtube URL.
From above, we had: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t11klyI91g, so we would put in 1t11klyI91g within the youtube brackets.

This will now embed your youtube video within your thread posting.

Posting Videos in your Recaps:
To post videos in your recaps, On your team schedule, click on the Preview link for your team, then click on the Team Stats link.

Image

Now click on the "Preview Recap Wizard Link" on your Team Stats page.

Image

Towards the bottom of the page, you will see the available tags that you can put in your recap.
For Youtube videos, you will see this: (youtube video) http: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_zeQRmVz1A

Image

So as I am writing up my recap, if I want to include a video, I would have all of my text typed out that is telling my story and then I would type in the you tube tags manually of

Then take the video link like I posted above, http: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OVchjZPa9Q
Take out everything after the v= and paste that within the youtube tags of .

So I would paste in the 9OVchjZPa9Q within the youtube tags.
Once you submit your recap, the youtube video will be embedded within your recap.

Let me know if you have any questions.

So I got it to work, you can see in my post above, the HD one just makes it bigger.

I had to use your HD, Long link and take off the &hd=1...
So I pasted in:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzaXuKs9vhc

I will update my first post with this information.

YouTube has taken out the "long link" option. Tried to embed a video in the forum threads just now, did not work with either the shortened link or the link from firefox address bar. Any info on how to fix this?

Yeah, thanks. I dunno, I went to "share" on that video and no option for long link on my browser (FireFox 17.0.1)

I updated the first post with currents steps to embed videos within threads and I included a note to remove "S" if your youtube video URL starts off with https.

So with the new Youtube coding we've lost HD/wide videos, and the ability to go full-screen on embedded

:(

I'm going to look more into it this week. Neither code was working so I wanted to get something on the site that actually worked.
