Anyone else having trouble with the R2 button working when you try to hot route your back to block right?

R2 will work the entire game to go into coach mode and view your play before the snap but when I try this the button works only like 10% of the time.

Yep pretty simple too...hot route button...select HB/FB...L2 to block left...R2 to block right.

Im just wondering if this is a common problem or if I need to buy a new controller.

It seems L2 is the generic block button for the HB on hot routes. I've tried R2 as well and it does not work.

I could be sadly mistaken here as well, but I thought L2 (like Mike said) was the generic block button and then you had to motion the HB to the side you wanted him to block on :?:

On 12 and previous versions you could block left with L2 or right with R2.

I usually use it in one back formations and at least 15 times a game with Wake Forest on NCAA 12 as I sacrificed the HB coming out of the backfield on passing plays just to keep my QB upright long enough to get a pass off to someone else.

On NCAA 13, when you go to hot route a HB/FB if you push the center of the right joy stick (R3), the menu pops up and clearly shows L2 means left and R2 means right but R2 just barely ever works...its another broken thing in the NCAA Football Series.

In previous NCAA's and Madden 12 (and probably all prior ones) L2 was block left, R2 block right. I assume they wouldn't change it.

I haven't had an issue, at least I don't think I have. I have hot routed both my FB/HB to block to each side and they have done it, even saw the play art showing them blocking to each side.

I blame the lack of an actual manual.

I noticed today that you like to place blame... Didn't expect that from a hard working logical dude like yourself

You're the least likely person to take anything literally, so stop.

Besides, to blame is simply to place the responsibility for something on a specific source. There is nothing wrong with it when correctly used.

In this case, I can definitively report that 2-3 years ago when they still had a manual that you could hold in your hands and read easily while playing the game, I knew what buttons did what and how to do all the little audibles, hot routes, spotlights, shifts, etc. Now that the entire useful manual is only electronic in the game, and you can't be looking at the manual while you're also in practice mode trying things out, understanding of the game and the nuances of all of the options is a much more complicated scenario.

Basically, EA is getting lazy. They "add" all this content each year, but when you pick up the game to play there is no true tutorial, nothing that shows you how to utilize the various options of playcalling, audibling, and hot routing in an interactive fashion. There is also no set of instructions that you can read while you play. They've made it harder for people to realize the full potential of their game all for the sake of saving some money on printing.

And, they've suffered for it, as the number of people playing NCAA online every year seems smaller and smaller (outside of our league).

I believe that other people here would agree.

There is a full color manual in the pause menu and you can easily flip through the pages of it as if it were an old hard copy manual.

Also, I believe lots of game makers are getting away from hard copy manuals. Easy way to save money.

There really isn't that much that you need to have the manual with you each and every game. I bitched about not being able to customize controls but after a couple lab sessions and scrimmages it's a moot point. And you can "read the manual" by pausing in a game or practice mode and going to settings and controls

You dont even have to go into settings/controls. MANUAL is either right above or below CALL TIMEOUT....I cant remember exactly but it looks exactly like the old manuals did but in full color.

I prefer the nostalgia of a manual I can read while taking a shit.

You just complained about not having the book while playing...
