I have one of the original bricks that I bought my freshman year of college (Jan of 07).

I was playing Fifa online, and it just shut off completely. The red light is flashing, if you hit the button it turns on for a second (green) then flashes to what I assume is yellow, and then goes red again and shuts off. Can't get the game out.

-Am I fucked?
-Tips to get the game out?

The one I bought from Corey died on me today and if the red light is blinking it can be fixed with a hair dryer. It worked. I didn't think it would but it did.

Get a hair dryer turn it to hot high and wave it back and forth for 15 min on the vents in back. Then turn the hair dryer to cold or put it in front of a fan for 10 min to cool down then turn it on and presto it works like new. If it doesnt work after the 10 minutes keep cooling it and turning it on. It will start.

Make sure u constantly move the dryer in back dont keep it in one spot

If nothing else it will get your game out. Then go trade it in right away while its working.

I had that happen and had to get a new one. If the hair dryer thing doesn't work you either have to take it to get fixed or get a slim. Sorry to hear that man.

Which vents? when it is sitting on it's side ("PS3" can be read properly on the side) are we talking side vents (by usb) or top vents?

Also, does the HDD on the old ones work in the new slim ones? I doubt it, but if they did, I'd like to keep my HDD info

I'm not gonna break it open until I try the trick to get it going. If I can get it going, I'll trade it into gamestop.

Does anyone know about the HDD question I asked? That's a lot of info to lose

Now I just need to know how to transfer data off of the PS3 and onto an external hard drive. I want to backup all my info so that I can trade this bitch into gamestop while It's still working.
