New Orleans/Baton Rouge Suggestions
My wife and I will land in New Orleans early Thursday morning and are staying overnight on Bourbon. We're then headed to Baton Rouge for two days and return to New Orleans to fly out on Sunday afternoon.
That said, I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on places to hit up in New Orleans/Baton Rouge. Restaurants, bars, etc. Thank you in advance for your input.

Re: New Orleans/Baton Rouge Suggestions
I would send a PM to Doodee if he still checks in. He helped me out a bit when I was there about 5 years ago.
I don;t know what you are interested in, but we went on an Alligator tour that was pretty cool. To see them bring them right up to the boat and get them to jump out of the water to get fed was unreal.

The only thing u need in BR is the game. Everything else will be in New Orleans.
Yo have to eat beignets at Cafe du Monde. That is a must. Lunch and dinner. Just pick any hole in the wall seafood place in the French Quarter. I've never had any let me down and they're usually better than the nicer restaurants.

You've been to the wrong places or with the wrong people. The food alone is just about worth a trip.ajalves wrote:My advice, dont go.

Beignets are a must!!!
Mothers...well...wasnt a fan, just was such a long wait because of the popular tourist attaction
Bars on bourbon...my favorite is Bourbon Street Blues, Cats Meow, Pat O's, and Razoos are my favorites
Best part about it is they will offer you 3 drinks for the price of 1...yes i said it correctly 3 for 1...cant beat it
Dont know if its still open but Acme Oyster is a great place to eat...dont know how they stand since the oil spill
I really never take any tours or nothing im from this area...when i go to New Orleans i just stay drunk

Agree with Jake, bourbon street blues is my favorite bar.
Though that was in my younger, less married days.

New Orleans is one of my favorite places. Not a good place to go if you are looking for a relaxing time though. For every day you spend in New Orleans you are going to need a half a day just laying around the house.shel311 wrote:You've been to the wrong places or with the wrong people. Thanks for the suggestions guys. My wife and I are going, and it will be the 1st time without the baby. She'll want to party, but being parents now, I'm sure we won't make it too late in the night. We have to get primed for the game on Saturday night though.

Make sure you get there early to experience the best tailgating experience that is Tiger Stadium.TerpsMustDie wrote:We have to get primed for the game on Saturday night though.
I have been to a lot of other campuses and none have come close. The fans are awesome and offer all the cajun food specialties, tons of drinking, and it extends for miles.
Im not sure you will be that excited once the game is over and the outcome.

Re: New Orleans/Baton Rouge Suggestions
I do not know a lot of places, but there is a small place in the quarter called "Gator Me Crazy". The food is just f'n ridiculous. I guess it is like that at a lot of the whole in the wall places. I would heed Shel's advise and visit Cafe du Monde. I would steer clear of the crawfish... YUCK...lol Just park and walk you will find so many places to eat at you will want to stay another week...
