ps3 - to repair or not to repair

I need to hear some people's opinion. Trying to decide what is the best thing to do. Hell, maybe just typing this out will make me make my mind up.

My ps3 got the YLOD for the 2nd time with my NCAA in it. The only two games I really play are NCAA and The Show. It will cost $60 plus shipping to send it to Knights repair, where I got it fixed last time as well as Nole and BigRy I think. It has been about 7 months since the repair and it happened for the 2nd time. They have a deal where I could ship it to them, buy a "less than 30 day usage" slim ps3 for $175 plus shipping and get a 2 year warranty as an exchange for my system. They would also do their best to move stuff from the old ps3 to the new. The biggest things saved on there are my files for ncaa and the show. some other things I could redownload from the ps store. And of course the game is stuck inside.

Now Walmart has a deal to get a new slim, plus your choice of 2 of a list of 21 games for $389 (I was thinking Tiger Woods and a new NCAA and obviously these are $60 games)

I was reading some reviews of Knights gaming on line and I am not too sure of them. They fixed it at one point, but I don't know if it was something they did, or if it just how Sony put this thing together but after 1 repair it happened again just 7 months later, of course their warranty was 4 months. Of course it sucks I would have to restart my careers on both games, but I think it would/could reduce by stress of hoping this problem doesn't keep happening. I don't know if buying a "less than 30 day usage" ps3 is really a great idea.

Any thoughts? Would you spend the money just to not deal with this anymore? I mean I could send the system to Sony for $150 but it appears they clean your hard drive (which puts me without the careers) but would it be repaired where it wouldn't happen again?

Does Sony still have that deal where you send back the broken one and get a new one for $100 and change?

actually, i'll make it easy for you

you cant send it to knights..they wont even accept it

they only do a 1 time fix because. the guy said after the 1st time, the breakdown comes alot quicker so they domnt even do it anymore

you're gonna have to get a new one

and your ncaa and mlb files are phucked

this is how i got my game out

You can try to get the disc out without taking it apart. Not sure if you tried this but you can do the following.

Turn the PS3 off by the switch on the back. Hold down the Eject button and flip the system back on with the switch on the back while holding the eject button.

I saw someone post that and it didn't work for me.

At first the eject didn't work for me either, I kept doing it a couple more times and it ejected for me. Hold down eject the whole time till something else happens. I can't say it would do it again cause I didn't leave a game in after I turned it on and left it on to see if it would die again.

I got it to finally eject. I ended up just having to hold down the eject button for about 10 seconds and it worked. My fat boy is still kicking for now. :D
