This whole "he is a prick for not accepting hazing" story makes me angry. Nobody has ever or will ever "haze" me and I applaud Dez for not buying into this bullshit.

I feel the opposite. Pay your dues just like everyone else before you. Bottom line, everyone knows its all in fun and it don't make you less of a man to go along with a joke. Your a rookie, humor the vets for the love of God. Take it easy Dez it aint that serious, everything will be ok.
To me he is coming across as arrogant and better than those preceding him.

Maybe it is just me. I tried to fight a whole fraternity one time. I hope that Dez doesn't relent.

It is possible its because it's Roy Williams' shoulder pads? OSU and Texas interconference rivals, fighting for same position, Roy Williams is getting paid a ton and has sucked. I agree with BigStimpin but certainly wouldn't want Roy Williams underachieving ass being the one thats giving the orders. DeMarcus Ware..i'd be happy to carry his. Overachieving Miles Austion...perfectly fine. Jason Witten...gladly.
Trendon, you are just different. I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

I don't know, his reaction wasn't very "arrogant". He definitely has an arrogant attitude towards some things, and I don't particularly like the guy's attitude, but this is one time where I won't mind backing him. As long as he remembers this when he's a vet. However, if he's going to do (or not do) shit like this, he better have a good season.

I just don't do shit "just because." I won't fucking tolerate that. We were talking politics in another thread and I think a lot of our problems in life stem from the "just do it because..." and "that's just the way it is..." is an accepted ideology amongst us. Whether it be work, women, sports, whatever ... "just because" will never, ever fly with me especially when it is involves some sort of humiliation or dominence.

trendon you fuck ugly girls, just because.
its dumb. there is a simple rule that i always take when confronted with a problem or a situation that bothers you or someones words. 'what is that persons intentions?' If the intentions are harmless, which they obviously are, then you don't make a big deal about it b/c that makes you look petty, which he does. if the intentions were to hurt him or make him look bad, then by all means put up a fuss and do what you believe is right.
he looks like an idiot and i hope they tape him to a goal post and piss on him

Id tell Roy Williams F you as well and then take his job like he is going to do.
Then Id walk over to Mr. Ware and offer to carry his pads while looking back smirking at Williams with 2 birds in the air.

"Just because" I made the decision. Nobody made the decision for me.
It isn't harmless, though. It is some insecure clownass trying to waive his dick in Dez's face. The fact that others were too much of a bunch of pussies or line-toers to say anything shouldn't reflect poorly on Bryant.

i can agree with this angle too. if i'm in a competition with someone, i probably wouldn't want to carry their shit.

Now this would take some balls, and be cool to see if I was someone on the team that wasn't Roy Williams.

Part of playing in a TEAM game is trying to fit in and building good chemistry. Dez needs to show that he is willing to put his own needs second to the team's. Doing these stupid rights of passages is a way to do so. Maybe he will find another way to show that he doesnt believe himself to be bigger than the 80 other guys since he is going to need at least 10 of them everytime he steps on the field.

I'm basing my argument on the assumption that the 1 year that Roy Williams has been in Dallas and the 4 years he has been in Detroit have given the league and its players a large enough sample to determine if RW is willing to make sacrifices to fit in with the team (no idea if he has and I am not a RW fan).
You cannot make the same claim based on DB's limited college career where he was suspended by his team and then kicked off by the NCAA for lying after playing only two years. That is a big difference.
Either way, I hate the stupid hazing shit and refused to make others go through it when I was put in that position.

Dez hurt and out for 6 weeks.
I think carrying the pads was just too much for his ankle to handle.
