Driver's License in Florida

I can't take not driving anymore. It has been five years since I had a license but, unlike in New York, I can't just drive anyway; I don't know any cops to bribe and I don't know the roads or how to get around registration without a license like I could up there.

I hear Florida is a state that is REAL easy to get a license in. Is this true? The key with me is to get a quick turnaround from the written test (I have to start from scratch since I lost EVERYTHING when I got put on probation) and the road test. I don't want to have to make two trips as between having to pay some parking violations in NY, two trips would cost me a fortune.

They recently changed the requirements as far as the documentation you have to have. Not sure about the test, I never took it here. If your license is suspended in NY, you wont be able to get one here.

It isn't suspended. I just don't have one. I never cared because I drove anyway and just bailed myself out and got the AUL charge to just go away. I don't have that luxury here.

Driving without a license, if you have never had one, is a misdemeanor criminal offense and you can be arrested for it. I think the fine is in the $150 range here for the ticket. Not sure what it is down south.

From your first post about the parking tickets, I thought you meant it was suspended. If you never had one, I know its harder to get than it used to be due to all the documentaion you need to prove your identity.

I think we are talking about two different things here.

1. Lost my license years ago.
2. I drove anyway.
3. Time elapsed on suspension
4. Never bothered to reapply and kept driving
5. Now I am in Costa Rica and I can't get a license here because they want my NY license.
6. I am not going to drive without one as I will be deported if I screw up.

So, I am hoping Florida's process is easier than New York's as I can provide an address in Miami. In New York, I have to take the written test and I get the learner's permit that day (like I am 16), then I have to wait a few days to attend some class to watch videos so I can get permission to take the road test, which could be TWO MONTHS AWAY!

I know Alabama offers the test in 12 languages, but you may need to hurry to take advantage.
