Hopefully this will help to not clutter up the board with a new thread for every single game.

No doubt, USA should get out of their pool. But, not sure about winning. The first game vs. England should be a good one.

By the way, the host nation has never lost their opening game of the World Cup. HOWEVER, it will happen today. Mexico vs. South Africa in four minutes!

Wow......very sad news to start the World Cup.

Nelson Mandela will NOT make the match, as his great-granddaughter died in a car crash involving a drunk driver after the huge concert last night.

Budweiser doing an online reality show which has 32 fans from 32 countries in one house. Each time a country is eliminated from the World Cup so is that fan in the house.

The technical difficulties on ESPN right now suck. They have had to cut away from Martin Tyler and a taped cut scene already.

ESPN loves their pretentious opening montages don't they? It's either those or completely moronic inappropriate ones. I almost thought they'd have Big N Rich singing "We're coming to your township".

I remember talk of the stadiums not being built in time for this cup etc.....but this stadium looks incredible. Sad state of affairs for Mandela.

I need Mexico to win this group...I am going on a 5 day Mexcian cruise next weekend and my personal safety in Ensinitas and Cabo depend on the success of the Mexican soccer team in the world cup.

That's an issue for any World Cup not held in Europe or the US. There's been plenty of talk of having to change the venue for the next one from Brazil for that very reason.

I have been to two U.S. national games...........besides hockey being the best sport live.....soccer on the international level for me is the best thing I have ever seen live.

I will make a WC in my lifetime......this just looks like so much damn fun to be at.

There are doubtless better, more exciting sports. But the passion of the fans and the atmospheres in the stadiums make soccer such an incredible sport in my opinion. The lack of passion and excitement in baseball is what drags it down for me.

Outside of the iPhone app? No clue lol.

Giovanni is all over the place. Cdub pegged him as the player to watch, so far so good.

I disagree about baseball. I think it's much more enjoyable watching the game quietly and not hearing idiots try to explain or talk about situations they clearly don't understand. And please, don't stand up for the wave.

Once that first one goes in, the match will open up.

Neither team wants to lose their first match and SA is being VERY cautious.

Anyone have any insight on the new Adidas ball they are using? I've heard the players don't really like it and it it has caused some passes to go away from where the player might have been trying to get it to. I'm wondering how much problems it's actually causing.

That is true too. I probably should have explained my statement a bit better. I was talking about watching games on TV. I love going to baseball games because they are relaxing (which still goes a long way towards explaining my feelings on the sport), but as a televised event they are a complete snoozefest for me.
