For those of you don't know my wife gave birth to our. Twin boys Monday February 15. Everyone is doing good and they are keeping mom until Monday because she had an emergency c-section. No lie fellas my wife was very close to dying Monday but she is doing better and the hospital just wants to make sure there is no sign of infection. Jake Ryan and Alec Ryan are doing really good for being born 8 weeks early but they will have to stay until April 11. I will post picures soon.

Wow, glad to hear everything is going well. Unreal that something so beautiful can be something so serious as well. Best of luck to you all.

Glad everything is getting better. My wife had 3 c-sections with all of our kids. Luckily she went well with all of them. Keep smiling and be ready for double diaper duty.

As you all have read my wife had a very diffilcult delivery with our twins, then she was diagnosed with a very sever infection in her uterus. They finally discharged my wife last thursday within 5 minutes of the dr telling us the good news, we got a call from the NICU that there was a problem with our son Alec, they diagnosed him with the disease Necrotizing Enterocolitis, it attacks pre mature baby intestines very rapidly and severly. At the time the Drs told us that the next 4 days were going to be very critical for his survival. With today being the 4th day I am happy to report that he is doing really well, if you were to see him you wouldnt think so but compared to where he was and where he is now it is very encouraging. The dr's are very optomistic that they caught the disease in time and all signs point that he is on the road to recovery but it will be a long road. It is one of those diseases that is very severe but you dont hear about it until someone you know has it.

I wish him nothing but the best man, that's hard.
I had a premature nieces that was in th hospital for months after being born at around 2 pounds.
She was/is a fighter and is now a healthy, strong 2 year old.

Steel,
I'm glad to hear that things are looking up for both your wife and your son...it looks like you've weathered the storm. Hopefully everyone gets to come home and live a healthy, normal life.

My wife is doing good but our son Alec is still at a critical point. It's a waiting game right now because even though he hasn't had any major setbacks, he is not healing as fast as the Drs expect which is starting to concern them as well. We have found out that some in the medical field if not all of them, did not expect our son to make it this long as sick as he was when they first diagnosed him. As parents that shows he has a lot of fight in him and we hang on to that, feeling that he is going to pull through from this. The majority of our time has been at the hospital and when my wife or I need a break from waiting we take turns with the laptop and with my time I always come and see what is going on in the NDL which has been a big help at times.
Our other son Jake is doing great, and today will be at his full feedings without any concerns.
In one room we have a son that is doing great and is acting the way every parent expects when they find out they are expecting, but then in the other room we have a son that is pretty sick and not what any parent expects. Our oldest son who is 3, at times shows signs of sadness when we drop him off with family and that pulls at the heart strings. It's a roller coaster of emotions and I never realized how draining just waiting could actually be.

Steel, you continue to be in my prayers, along with your family. I cannot imagine what you're going through, but know that you have a lot of people pulling for you.

After long discussions with the drs and with each other we gave our consent for surgery for our son Alec. We have since found that the staff was not expecting to find any healthy small intestines, but they did find 44 1/2cm of healthy small intestines. What does that mean there was more than 50% of small intestines that could not be saved. He has responded really well so far with going through major surgery. The time frame as long as there are not any setbacks is that he should start having bowl movements by the end of this week and by next weekend he should be able to maybe start eating. He is still really sick but at least now everyone knows what they are dealing with. Some of the setbacks that could happen this week, is infection due to surgery and the healthy small intestine that they were able to save doesn't last. Good news is that 36 hours after surgery he is doing good even better than the drs expected him to, we realize that he still has a long road to travel but the drs are more optomistic today than they were anytime this past week.
