Release Date: February 23rd, 2010

Description
Developed by Quantic Dream, creators of the critically acclaimed Indigo Prophecy for PS2, Heavy Rain is a Hollywood-style cinematic adventure that takes players on a journey through a dark and sophisticated film noir thriller. Exclusive to the PS3, Heavy Rain challenges the videogame convention by introducing original and innovative content that engages players emotionally, explores the potential of interactive storytelling, and creates a new gaming format for an adult audience.

Heavy Rain is an ambitious project that tells a complex story through contextual actions and realistic visuals. Embracing the idea of “interactive storytelling,” the game is built around an emotive and compelling proposition: ‘How far would you go to save someone you love?’ The game’s story changes based on each an individual’s actions, and each player will be faced with a variety of choices and consequences that will take them on an emotional rollercoaster. As players will discover throughout the game, the smallest actions can have dramatic consequences, as every act and decision will have a tangible impact on the fate of the characters.

General Features
-EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE--Player decisions are rooted in emotion, decision-making, and overall story. The game’s technology and realism help to engage emotional attachment as players progress through the game.

-BENDING STORYLINES--‘Bending Storylines’ heighten the immersion and tension, raising the stakes of players’ choices and actions and delivering a more engaging and immersive experience.

-FILM QUALITY NARRATIVE--Heavy Rain brings a high-quality story filled with tension, emotion, intrigue, and dramatic twists.

-ACCESSABILITY--Heavy Rain combines sophisticated themes/tone/content with intuitive gameplay that caters to casual as well as hardcore gaming fans.

-HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION VALUES--From the length of the script, to the musical score, to the number of hours of motion capture, Heavy Rain is a vast and ambitious project that delivers a true film noir feel as well as production values that rival a cinematic experience.

-A MATURATION OF VIDEOGAMES--Writer, director, and studio head David Cage is the vision behind Heavy Rain – pushing at the boundaries of video gaming with a new approach that places narrative, emotion, nudity, sex, rape, child abduction and real choices at the forefront.

could have been better, IMO. I like the button thing in some games but this is a little to much for my taste. The story intrigues me...

I like the fact that it is more like watching a movie play out instead of playing the typical video game. May not but it (at least right away), but will definitely pick it up from Blockbuster.

Game of the Year contender here, if the critics have any sense.

Buying it first thing tomorrow. We need more games like this, and it appears Rockstar is listening, as indicated by the recent Game Informer cover story.

I am excited by the fact you have to hit a button to do everything. Sounds corny, but seems fantastic.

... for LA Noire, in case anyone hadn't heard of it.

With all the realism we have in games now it is only a matter of time before you have the full-life simulator on PS3.

"Press X to brush your teeth."

"Press O to floss your teeth."

"Press Triangle to use mouthwash. (Warning, you have not used mouthwash in three days. If this trend continues your next dental bill is likely to increase.)"

"Press L2+R2 to kiss your wife goodnight and go to sleep."

"Hold L1+R1 to try to convince your wife that she should perform oral sex (5% chance of success based on failure to properly complete "Doing the Dishes" and "Taking Out the Trash" mini-games)"

"Rotating R-Stick counterclockwise to jerk off in the sink after getting shut down by your wife."

Oh how exciting a time it will be when we have all that control over all the little things.

I picked up Heavy Rain yesterday and played for an hour or so. Very interesting. For those of you who played the demo, those are the 2nd and 3rd "chapters" that you play. It is like reading a book. There are 3 characters that you use (so far anyway) and you switch around using them. Eventually I am assuming they will all tie together. It was a bit slow at first, but the story is starting to play itself out now. Anyone else get it?

I will get it as soon as Game fly ships it to me.
