Both draft days are listed as Saturday, but different dates. Just checking to see if there is any mix up here.

Question regarding the slot between points mailed out and whether not people will keep their teams; Oct 20 - 22nd

Will there be a list of available teams posted at all!? More so highlighting guys that have been removed or teams by default that will be available b/c a new owner took them over during the season

I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before but I'm especially curious b/c I'm sure there are other coaches like myself on the fence about leaving and trying their luck in the draft...

I pick that window b/c there is no lottery or luck of draw that a coach will leave on his on behalf, but instead that team will be avail regardless of what the departing coach does...

Hope your following here when I highlight when you send reports out, a coach knows immediately whether he's fired or has the option to stay...Those with the option to stay should have the additional perk of seeing the field more before trying their luck w/ their draft position in my humble opinion...

Really this strategy is sorta like an unveiling for the upcoming season...Instead of just busting out a master list on the 23rd, you have a slower, more suspenseful, and more calculated reveal...Has nothing to do w/ listing who has the best shot at a high draft position, but instead what the market is gonna look like...

Some should be simple like the coaches that came mid season..all of them are forced into the draft so all of those teams will be open.

For example, Memphis, Southern Miss, Iowa State, Notre Dame..to mention a few, will all be available because of coaching changes mid-season. Not sure if there were more, but these are the ones that posted in the league intros about replacing a team.

In regards to the rest, I think that is something that should remain private if a coach is forced to leave or decides to leave...therefore adding the struggle and mystery of staying or not! IMO

Unfortunately, I don't have that mystery this season...but we'll see who I can get in the draft ;)

Totally valid points you hit on...

1.) There are obvious examples such as coaches that came in mid season and those teams will be available by default...This is evident if you go look in the Coaching Introductions, but that information is aggregated at all...It's rather dated and can fly completely under the radar if someone isn't specific looking for it...

It being your first season, you'll see that a master draft list of teams available is posted once everyone emails the commish whether their staying or drafting...This list is just a good reference point so you don't have to go looking all around leaguedaddy at records or bugging people on AIM...

2.) The reveal of the draft list holistically doesn't shine light on anyone specifically but instead a bigger picture...I totally get your point of it should remain a 'private' matter on a coaches status until the big list is revealed and if the league's goal is to keep the bigger picture in mind at all times then I totally understand

-----

Bottom line, is the reveal of the draft list methodically introduced as means of keeping everyone under the bigger 'NDL' picture or is there no science behind that!?

I mean if it's something that the commish or admins just 'don't get around to doing' then thats one thing, but if it's solely about a bigger community picture, then that's another

I'll try to keep this brief.

I too saw things like you did VT and thought the same way.

Jeffmo being the visonary that he was, bucked the idea of knowing ANYTHING before you declared.

This is one of the reasons to this day that no one is even allowed to say whether they will stay or go for the upcoming season(s).

The basic idea behind this is that this is at its core a "dynasty" league.

At its simplest, the idea is to not give coaches the "perk" of knowing where they will draft or if a particular team will be available SO THAT it is indeed more inticing to stay where you are (a bird in the hand if u will)

even further that that, though it makes the decison making that much harder, it also makes the other days like the draft lists post and the teams avaliable that much more exciting.

(I actually just went back and read your whole 2nd post)

and yea, its not that we dont get around to doing it...it would be quite easy to do.....but its one of Jeff's orginal ideas which has served us well as we head into our 14th season of being an 120 person (not even counting the farm) fully functioning league.

It is indeed a part of the NDL big picture and defintitely a pre-concieved and planned schematic of the league design.

Thanks Nole, hit every nail directly on the head there :) That thoroughly explained what I was getting at.

It's funny, as each season goes by, I begin to notice and appreciate the foundation that this league has established...

It's way more than just playing a bunch of scheduled games against other people but there is a lot of fucking depth here

Everything from the draft to the contracts to how everyone carries themselves in the league...It's ridiculous how much detail, thought, and planning has gone into this

Truly NDL is in a league of it's own...As cliche as that may sound by now, I must saw I'm astounded by how well executed this league is; a well oiled machine

Hats off to Jeffmo the visionary and all those who make this league possible

Just wondering :)

Thanks!
