congrats.
where are you at in training, seems like you have been running these distances last few weeks... you must be close to the half i'm assuming
when the race comes, go slow at the start... if you think you're going slow already, go slower. something about race day (the adrenaline i guess) makes you go way to fast at the start and you feel amazing then the last 2 miles you die. i was on ace to run the half in like 1:40 going into my last 2 miles and ended up finishing in 1:52 on my first one. i basically died the last 2 miles. i ran my 2nd half this yr and didn't train at all and finished in 2:00 and i felt fine near the end bc i knew what to expect and went slower at the start.
good luck, nice accomplishment for a big fella

I'll do 13 either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week and then the week after that I'll taper down and rest and recover. The mini is May 3rd in Indy. I'm still lifting and doing the elliptical and I also do a shorter 5 mile run once a week; usually on Fridays. I always take Saturday off and usually go real light on Thursday.

There's a good article on Grantland about how they set up and filmed the rap battles in that movie. I'm not a rap guy but I love that movie.ReignOnU wrote:Watched 8 Mile last week.LetsGoPeay wrote:Ran 12 miles tonight.

Hi Mom!
He's definitely got some potential to climb up the rankings. He got pushed around a little in the 1st, but beyond that, he was just ragdolling the other guy.

the Tyreke news coming out 15 minutes after 7 on monday cost me a tie for the championship.
crazy fantasy story (i hate reading other peoples fantasy stories too, so bear with me). i was up .5 (roto league) in 2nd but dropped to 3rd in the 4th quarter of the night games in FG%. Randy Foye missed a layup with 3 seconds left in the 4th to put me back ahead of the guy in FG% and push me back in 2nd.
1 shot (and the last one of the yr) was the difference in an entire season in me getting 2nd or 3rd and 1 news story was the difference in me not getting 1st (granted any shot during the season makes the same difference). i won like 3500 or something rather than 800.

Pretty sure I posted it 2yrs ago... but I lost about $1500 in tournament winnings when Klay Thompson threw up a meaningless half court shot, down 6-7, at the buzzer and made it. Again, I feel your pain. As they say, you rarely talk about your great wins, but you'll remember your losses forever.

Re: Random Discussions
Anyone hear about this crazy story with some head football coach at Minnesota State?
He has a state issued cell phone. Uses it to take innocent pics of his young children in the bath tub. Another school employee somehow finds the pics, reports him, and he gets fired and charged with child pornography felony charges. The charges were dropped. 20 months later after I guess all kinds of litigation, an arbitrator rules that he was wrongly fired, and if he wants his job back, the school has to give it to him.
Here's where the story actually gets weird. At that time, he had already found another job at another school. He chooses to leave that school that gave him a chance amid this controversy to go back to the same school and group of administrators that originally fired him.

Weirdness not over. He shows up to practice yesterday to find some members of the team are boycotting his return:

Re: Random Discussions
I heard about it on the radio this morning. I get the feeling that the players just liked the new coach, didn't really care too much for the old coach and they felt like they could parlay this situation into getting their way. While I think the original coach was a dipshit for going back to the school that wrongly fired him, after finding a job, I also recognize that it was his right and based on the information at hand, he's done nothing wrong. In the words of the Rock, the players need to sit down, shut up and know their role.

I agree. It's easy for us to sit here and say what he should have done but, man, how do you go back to the same people who got you in this mess? Tough one.ReignOnU wrote:I heard about it on the radio this morning. And again, this can't be easy for the players, but show a little compassion for this dude, he's been through some things over the past 20 months.
