Offensively they are extremely similar until it comes to SB's.

Marino did it with nothing but offense, zero defensive help to his WAR numbers. I believe someone said you can add up to around 5 WAR just from defense? Not sure who said it though (Ted or Webs maybe) and I'm too lazy to look it up.

It's like comparing Mantle to Ruth, both great players but one completely in another universe when it comes to offensive ability. Cuevas is good, but nowhere near Marino good, hell not even Marino Lite good (which there are very few people that meet that criteria and Cuevas needs more years to be considered that good)

Ted did but he was incorrectly understanding the concept of WAR, or specifically how good a replacement player is.

No player in our league has ever had 5 WAR just from defense, I can say that very confidently.

At least he didn't fall off the map like Joe Hudson. Hudson was the best catcher last year and now he plays like he should be playing in AA. Glad I gave him that contract extension....motherfucker!

Sumita's 2061 season is probably close to 5 WAR on defense. He finished with a ZR of 30.9 and 5.6 WAR. He batted .256 with 13 HRs and had an OPS+ of 92. I have no idea how much of that WAR came from his bat, but I am assuming under 1.

10 year commitment to a C is way outside of my risk profile. I have no idea how good he will be in his next few prime years but I see a poor ending with this one before its over. At least its 17 per year and not 25+
