We have significant problems of people coming to work sick, especially after corporate combined our "sick time" with vacation and renamed it paid time off (PTO). People now act like their PTO is vacation only that they can't lose for anything so they come in when they're sick.

If there is no back-fill plan or alternate to be called in when someone is truly sick and can't work, that's a failure to plan on the part of the organization/company/program. You can have the most important job at the place, but if they grind to a halt and lose an entire day by losing one person that's completely unacceptable. Designation of Authority for back-ups is required for everyone at every level I work with here.

govt. does two things right, leave and the TSP. sick leave is constantly accumulated at 13 days over the year. So if you don't take them they just continuously accumulate. Annual leave is 13 days a year to start, then 19.5 after 3 years, and then 26 at 15 years. Though you can't carry more than 30 days at the new year. So you have to use it.

Thifts Savings Plan, our version of a 401k. Lower expenses than you can get anywhere else for the most part, plus in really bad times or when close to retirement. you can move it easily to a government securities fund that gets 1% interest a year. 5% match.

Yep. I’m getting 26 hrs a year and my tsp has really taken off.

I just watched one of the best couple of hours of the NFL in quite a while, that's all that matters.

4th and inches from the opponent's 39 yardline with :22 left in the half...definitely a good time to take a delay and punt.
