I will say in all the years i have had guys do reports on me some of the docking has been laughable. I am telling you this now someone docked me for running up the middle too much. Thats why I am saying people need to step back and realize what they are doing.

coaches reports are the most flawed thing in this league like I stated earlier but they need to be there for sure. I just think not enough owners really know how to critique a player when looking for realism.

My favorite is every single year i get at least 1 report that says I ran too much zone.

My guess some peeps just aren't very good at reading defenses cause I'd guess run more man D then probably 90% of the league, lol.

See like that just made me laugh out loud. I play you like once every other day and i really dont know if you ever run zone period, which trust me I do not mind at all.

I coach at a HS where we're known a lot for our defense just as much as the offense, but there really is no secret to it. We run cover 2 against doubles and Cover 1 (to most Cover 3) against Trips or a team that runs double tights. We run 2 defenses....we line stunt prob once or twice a game and prob blitz once or twice a game. A lot of teams runs more basic coverages and zones that people should stop complaining about that all the damn time.

i get that one too..just mine is flipped. i say i run about 60-40 zone to man. yet i'll get CRs that say, "runs 90% man...needs to mix it up"
Wish I knew that Hart but you keep dodging me :)......jk.

I bet we're both making mental notes of this right now.

I haven't played a full season yet due to PS3 and/or personal issues, but the only thing I would like to see changed is the coaches report changed to a scale of 10. I only think "5"'s should be given out for perfection, so I may give some 4's, not meaning it as a slight to the opponent, but an above average grade. But I guess it is considered a negative vote. :?

This is how I would fix the Coach Report issue:

Set the areas and set the criteria for the areas. Tie the style directly to the score and a description. This will force you into the score that should be, not what someone's emotions decide it should be. It takes some of the gray area away. And most importantly, make the coach's reports and comments completely viewable to EVERYONE. Why? I have a few reasons for this.

#1 - They can be used as a scouting report towards your next opponent.

#2 - You can review a coach's review of other teams to get an understanding for their expectations in the game.

#3 - Having the reports open to all, means that people are less likely to do stupid stuff when rating their opponent.

Not worth the headaches, first time somone put something up about their gameplay being questionable, there would be a flame war.

Coaching reports are consistently laughable. Some of the stuff that guys complain about is SO f-ing petty that you'd like believe that they were joking..except they really aren't. I need to stop reading them all together and instead just look at the color of my overall score to see if I get to keep my team or not. Been in the league long enough to know whats "legit" and whats "cheese"...if my view ever differs from the rest of the league so much that it's killing my post season coaching summary...I'll gladly hang up my virtual cleats. The ones that really irk are the people that will knock you for stuff even if you ONLY did it as a result of something they were doing. :x

Even with that said...system has work for 15 seasons, not sure anything needs to change...atleast not before season 17.

Suns your post makes a fantastic point. There have been guys now in this league for like 5 or 6 years however long its been going on and I still bet they get docked......they should get 5's prob every game, not because they have been here a long time but because they know what is expected.

I've done a lot more reading around this afternoon and even went back to my final summary email and I definitely understand where the confidentiality thing is coming into play now. So my initial thoughts are probably a bit off base. But do think we could use some help in creating a consistent scoring system.

I know, after being away for so long, that one thing I really wish I had was more immediate feedback. I really wish I would have known what guys were saying after the 1st 2-4 games, so that I could have made the necessary adjustments later in the season.

Also, going back to that late April email, should I have seen more than 3 comments in it? Or is there a way to get a list of all of the comments that were made?

part of the problem is that people don't leave comments.

I make sure to every time

not entirely true. People do leave comments its just that somehow the comments don't always appear-at least it used to be that way not to many seasons ago.

I wonder if once a game is played and the reports are filed if a each report could be emailed to each coach automatically. That way coaches have the chance to see what is being critiqued both positive and negative.

What if there was an option (checkbox?) that allowed the submitting coach to check whether or not the comments were allowed to be view by the opposing coach?

if it's revealed mid-season or every 2-4 weeks then it would be a pretty easy process for any clever person to determine which report came from which opponent

yeah, i get that. Thanks for the heads up!

Who cares about if they know who you are. I'd like to know what comments come from what coaches. We know the consequences of attacking a coach due to a report.
