2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
from this yr in the MLB.
https://www.mlb.com/news/international- ... uly-2-2019
The wait is over.
July 2, the start of the international signing period, is here.
What happens between today and when the period ends June 15, 2020, can help change the trajectory of a franchise. All 30 teams know that today’s international teenage prospect has a chance to be tomorrow’s Major League star.
Need proof?
At one point last year, the top five slots on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects list belonged to international players. Those players -- Ronald Acuña Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Eloy Jiménez, Victor Robles, and Fernando Tatis Jr. -- are all in the big leagues this year. Gleyber Torres, 22, was also on the Top 100 to make it six international players in the top seven spots. Juan Soto, 20, was ranked No. 15 when the Nats called him up in 2018.

Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
We've talked about a complete restart for probably 5 years or so on this board. It's not gonna happen, no need to think it's something real. Only way I could see it ever happening is if the league was on its last leg with no immersion and possibly about to die.SmittyRocks7 wrote:Can you elaborate for some of those that are relatively new(Me)?nick wrote:hard reset and the league is doneso
That being said, I don't think the league would be done if we restarted. I'm sure a few guys would quit, and the key would be how we replaced them. For those that are here now that would remain, I think like it or not immersion would be through the roof upon a restart.

Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
I love the history of this league. Wish I could have been here when it started. This was my first and only league I played online. I am more open to it reset.Trading has died alittle and is my only issue. How many people left from when the league started day 1?
Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
We don't have to get rid of the NDL file we currently use. So, for example IF we tried a "restart" it would be a brand new file, if it sucks, we get back to the teams we have now. I love the history and my team but a new file and a new team does intrigue me.

I think 4 have played in every season: Me/Nick/Kdog/DocGraywolf357 wrote:How many people left from when the league started day 1?
I may be off a bit but other guys who were here at the start but left and came back, some a couple of times: Corey/AJ/Riccio/Plasma
Guy who I think came in a little after the 2010 start and have been here since: Ted/Dak/Ry/George/Coug/Randawg/DRWebs/Wasted
And as an FYI...that core above of 15 guys or so are all NDL lifers who were here long before the NDL OOTP in the NCAA football league.
The Sheltown Shockers are the only team with the same name from 2010 still standing.

Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
I get the history of the league but what other reasons would those be against a reset? I see a bunch of sentences but no one is really explaining the reason they don't want to see a reset? Is it because the time and energy you've put into building your Org? I don't have an opinion either way at this point, just looking for some insight?

In fairness, the history would be a BIG reason to stay the course.SmittyRocks7 wrote:I get the history of the league but what other reasons would those be against a reset? And there's actually no real reason that compares to the history in favor of restart at this point, other than just cause and let's shake shit up.
I'm in either way, so it doesn't matter to me.

Nice posts #s today
I remember the 1st draft we did in 2010 season. we were all new to this game and i personally had no idea what i was doing in that draft, but it was an experience.

Douglass was a slugger.
I still can't believe Rojas didn't get into the HOF mainly because he was the first, but he also won the MVP in that year as well and was a masher.

Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
I don't know personally but I see a bunch of post with perfectly good reasons. Maybe a reset would address said issues, maybe it'll bring more than 6-7 guys to the boards. Just some thoughts, but if my team is rolling and is back to back champ I wouldn't want a reset either!nick wrote:why would we restart? i dont see a reason why we should

Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
Never understood the reason to want to restart an OOTP league. The history of years upon years of play is what makes OOTP great. All a restart does is throw history away for a boost of interest for 5 seasons or so then back to normal, if not worse.
Re: 2069 Season Thread... The Herro We Needed
100% right. Sure, it would be awesome immersion for a few weeks while it got sorted out but then right back to how it is now. The only way for immersion to pick back up is for guys to post about their teams and players and guys actually respond. If that does not happen then it is what it is. Other than that what is the point of restarting? If you do not like your situation now draft new guys, make trades, sign dudes and that is your restart. If you want to move your team then move your team.Roggie wrote:Never understood the reason to want to restart an OOTP league. The history of years upon years of play is what makes OOTP great.
