It's a no call cause it started at the line, if the NIU player had let it knock him down and not fought back he might have gotten the call.

isnt that what the 5 yard rule is for? In the first 5 yards its fair, after that and while the ball is in the air, it is a penalty

You can jam the receiver, NIU had poor timing and execution. A better placed throw, or throwing it a few seconds later probably would have gotten the call too.

but that logic would have made it pass interference. The FSU DB kept contact after 5 yards AND while the ball was in the air.

The ball was in the air while they were still within 5 yards, and sure it could have been called PI, but if the refs throw the flag on that then all a QB has to do it fire it out right away to any receiver who gets jammed to get a call.

I so tired of seeing Manuel throw passes to no one, at least he doesn't throw as many picks are Rix did.

Yes, perhaps I am wrong. Also when a receiver fights back the refs tend to not throw the flag, maybe that was influencing factor.
