I would suppose they already do in a way. I know when I vote, if a guy is
substantially behind on games Ill take that into consideration when voting, and knock him down a few pegs (if I vote for him at all). Others have mentioned doing this in the past as well
And I need to stop scheduling Weiser, killing my SOS!

This is what I'm saying. Take things away. Guys who get sim losses get credit for coaches reports if they send the email, correct? If you get your same draft spot or get to keep even a crappy team by not doing what you are supposed to, what is the incentive to do those things? Put the guys not doing them on what would essentially be our version of NCAA probation.

I'm sorry, but if guys are getting games in, then I don't see what the issue is.
Guys who have 3 or less games played at this point, sure....but guys who are making efforts to get games in but maybe have real-life obligations, or have scheduling conflicts w other guys....who are you to judge them or try to punish them? If you set rules down and guys meet those rules, then how are you going to say they're not doing things right?
(by "you" I am not talking to anybody in particular)
And Swelly, chill out dude....stop being a drama queen every time you post. Your "hype" posts don't make you look cool.

With all due respect, and I mean all due respect, you have less than 5 games played with 2 weeks to go in the season pretty much every year.
I was your Pac 10 commish, I sent you the "pick it up" PM every single season as your commish.
I bet I can find a scheduling thread where you didn't post in it for multiple weeks right now, and you probably just replied to it recently, since the timeline came out.
Yes, real life happens, but just about every season? C'mon man!

Yeah, and the last few seasons that hasn't been an issue. As for the thread thing....I didn't even know a timeline was out, so that's nice to know. Shows how much I've paid attention to it, I've just tried to get games in when I'm available. Funny thing is, you've played 8 games, I've played 7 w a game scheduled for tonight.
This season I've had one of the WORST availabilities in the league and I have still kept a solid pace and only have 3 games left (after tonight) vs active coaches. So nice try putting me on blast, but you still didn't negate my point--I got my games in, right? I met the deadline, right? Ok, so again....I'm not seeing why people should have things "taken away from them". That's like a professor saying "you have a paper due at the end of the semester" and then asking for a progress report at midterm and docking people who haven't done a certain amount of work on it.

so you dont think that someone playing 2-3 games then doing nothing for a month and then all the sudden rushing back in and cramming 8-9 games into 1 1/2 weeks is unfair to the guys on their schedule that are playing in a timely manner? I mean it effects the polls etc but I'm speaking just in terms of the guys in the league that are holding up to the commitment they made. So you take a person I have to chase around sending PMs, IMs, and posting scheduling threads they never look at for weeks then the last 2 weeks of the season I have to work around their schedule if I want to get the game in. Despite the fact that all season i've been playing my games within a 1-2 week period from when it opens and have been letting my opponents know what kind of craziness is going on in life and when I can/can't play. That person should get the same bowl perks and benefits as everyone else?

I never said it was "fair" to anybody else. My point is, we have rules that have been in place for a long time. If those rules change, then I wouldn't have a problem with them doing so. The fact is, people have priorities--and if I have a choice in week 3 between spending time w my gf and playing an NCAA game, I'm choosing her. Will that priority be the same in Week 8 or 9? Of course not....but that's just human nature. Replace "spending time w my gf" with whatever is important for ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY other grown ass men, and I bet you get different fill-ins for that line but you get the same result for the earlier weeks from many guys in this league--spending time w the wife/the kids/friends, watching an important football game, going to a movie, playing another league game for NBA/Madden/FIFA/etc, or (in Nick's case) packing a bowl....so again, if guys are following the guidelines set down, who are you to suddenly say they should have things taken away from them?
Again, I'd be just fine w the rules being changed, but until they are, you can't punish people, especially when I'm sure you don't know why every single person isn't getting games in at the pace you want them to.

YOu wanna go down that route, my scheduling/sim history vs yours? Really, we can do that if you want. I haven't had a sim loss due to scheduling in my entire 20+ season career, but we can go there and you can let me know how many you've had.
Also, I haven't gone weeks without answering someone in a scheduling thread...like you've done this season. So, again, we can go there as well if you want.
Also, it's not even necessary, but your 8 vs 7s is distorted. I had an early bye week and a week 10 bye week. You have 2 late bye weeks, which means you've had more games open than me. I also have a game where my opponent either never responded or hasn't in over a month. And I still have more games than you, because you are like my opponent, you go a month ignoring a scheduling thread, while still posting everywhere else on here. That's disrespectful, wouldn't you agree?
jsence2 wrote: So nice try putting me on blast, but you still didn't negate my point--I got my games in, right? I met the deadline, right
No, you have had multiple seasons in which you have had sim losses. So you are on blast for good reason, and you are wrong, you have taken sim losses before due to flat out ignoring scheduling threads all the while posting it up and playing FIFA and COD. Are you denying that you have ignored those threads while being routinely on FIFA and COD? Really? Yea, I don't think so.
jsence2 wrote:That's like a professor saying "you have a paper due at the end of the semester" and then asking for a progress report at midterm and docking people who haven't done a certain amount of work on it.
That's ridiculous. That paper isn't affecting anyone else. Having 7 games to play in 1 week while ignoring scheduling threads for weeks affects other people.

that was the whole point of my original post. Theres a big difference between playing 4-5 games and then going ghost vs playing some and letting guys know "hey the next couple weeks are crazy for me"

The real issue is when it's the same people doing it for multiple seasons at a time.

wow.. I know we all have lives and other priorities but there is this thing call a mutual respect for others in the league. I get that you may rather spend time with the gf or play fifa then play ncaa cause you think you got more weeks left to play.. But to take that approach every time, shows a complete lack of respect for your oppt, and the fact that he probably has a life too, and other priorities yet makes the effort to reasonably and faithfully schedule the game and play in a reasonable time after the game has been opened to play.
Using the scheduling threads and showing a real effort to schedule your games with your oppt, is not just about the league and playing on time, but it is about respect you are giving your oppt, who is also trying to faithfully trying to make time out of his life to play you. The times we make concessions to play our games, you don't think they would rather do something with their time. But they know they have made a commitment to play within in a league that promotes community, good faith, sportsmanship and respect amongst each other. To blow off games and show a lack of effort is disrespectful in my opinion.

Shel, again....for the last time, not everyone has every discussion on the scheduling threads. There are multiple ways for guys to talk, and just because YOU can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I've talked to some of my opponents on PSN, and on AIM, and there weren't posts in the thread for a while. Again, I haven't had an issue since I had Washington--look at my record w UK and look at my record w ECU, I had no issues. So how about you quit trying to put people on blast and focus on your own games? You have a third of your games unplayed with a week to go. I haven't taken a sim loss due to not posting in three seasons. I've had one or two due to never being able to match up schedules, but that's it. But it's ok, play loose with the facts, it's what you do.
Sometimes I think you focus more about my life than I do.

Playing loose with facts, I see you're good at that. That's laughable, most commishes can refute that real quick. We keep tabs on these things, you can't get away with a statement like that.

Laughable.
Like I said, I played more than you with less open games, and I get ignored while you're doing the ignoring.
you have the rep, not me, there's a reason for that.

you still haven't answered my question. Why is it OK for you to put off playing your games until the final 2 weeks and then make your opponents work around your schedule?

Nowhere in there did I say that it was ok to "blow people off" or not make an effort to SCHEDULE the game. I'm talking about when guys have a choice between going online and hunting someone down to play, or choosing another priority in life. My issue is w taking things away from guys who haven't PLAYED. Now, not making any efforts to schedule....that's different. But I have a feeling there are a lot of games where guys haven't played but they've both made effort to schedule, so the number of games not attempted to be schedule is probably much lower than games not played. But again--to judge people simply based on threads doesn't mean that is the only way they try to schedule. Take my game with Washington for example--we probably scheduled as much via PSN and AIM as we did via the thread, but it showed that I had posted like 2 times and he had posted 4 or 5. Did that mean I wasn't talking? No....it meant that I didn't see his post, but I talked to him in other ways. But people like Shel don't think about that, it's much easier and self-fulfilling to act like they're morally superior and try to call people out and blast them.
If I schedule a time w someone, I'm not going to blow them off or stand them up, that is infuriating when it happens to me because it means I gave up something else that mattered to me and did it for no reason.
I also think that when we have a coaching contract that specifically says what times we're available, and someone goes and posts "hey, can you play tonight?" when the person has either posted their times that contradict in the thread, or their times that contradict in their contract....I don't view that as the other person trying harder to schedule, I view it as that person not even bothering to READ.
