Manny Pacquiao wants rematch with Timothy Bradley
Manny Pacquiao says he wants a rematch with Timothy Bradley after a five-judge panel assembled by the WBO championship committee unanimously favored the Filipino fighter in a video review.
Pacquiao said Thursday he would prefer a rematch rather than Bradley giving up the WBO welterweight title that he won on a split decision because “people may think I just usurped it.”
The five judges on the review panel all scored the fight in Pacquiao’s favor — 117-111, 117-111, 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113. At the June 9 bout in Las Vegas, judge Jerry Roth had it 115-113 for Pacquiao, and Duane Ford and C.J. Ross had it for Bradley by the same score. The Associated Press scored it 117-111 for Pacquiao.
“My supporters shouldn’t worry. We’re going to get that title,” Pacquiao said.
The WBO can’t overturn the result of the fight.
“Even if I saw Pacquiao win, the decision of the judges is legal and their decision cannot be revoked by us,” WBO President Paco Valcarcel told the Manila Standard.
The undefeated Bradley earned a controversial split decision over Pacquiao, handing the boxing superstar his first loss in seven years.
The decision was roundly booed June 9 by the crowd at the MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas.
Valcarcel had promised June 13 that his organization would look into the fight with five other judges, adding that the WBO does not doubt the ability of the scoring judges.
A large majority of the boxing writers at ringside believed Pacquiao won the fight.
Promoter Bob Arum, who represents both fighters, said he thinks Pacquiao won by an overwhelming margin of 10 rounds to two.
Bradley has previously said a November rematch is unlikely, but told MyDesert.com during a live chat on Tuesday he would agree to it.
“I think the fight was really close, it could have gone either way," Bradley told The Desert Sun. "I'm all for it. Nov. 10, let's do it. November or December, if he wants to do the rematch, why not? All this (controversy) would be taken away. Let's do the rematch and settle it once and for all."

Re: Boxing: Pacquiao v Bradley (OMFG)
Thank you to all who have put up links and videos on this, I am a little late to the party, my only thing I can think of was this fight was fixed from the start....I am by no means a boxing expert, not even close, I value Dave and trendons thoughts on this.....was this a set up to try and get people more interested in the second fight?

I don't think it was to set up a rematch with Pacquiao vs Mayweather on the horizon.Ghost of UCLA wrote:Thank you to all who have put up links and videos on this, I am a little late to the party, my only thing I can think of was this fight was fixed from the start....I am by no means a boxing expert, not even close, I value Dave and trendons thoughts on this.....was this a set up to try and get people more interested in the second fight?

Re: Boxing
On hbo nonstop but doubt anywhere else.
I've really been enjoying boxing again since I got hbo back.

Re: Boxing
I'm not a big boxing fan but I watched the last Manny and Floyd fights. By Dave's description, the fight tonight would have been right up my alley. What I hated about the Floyd fight was Floyd just toying with the guy. Mayweather is a machine, but the fight was boring.Cnasty wrote:On hbo nonstop but doubt anywhere else.

There is a fight every weekend... Usually multiple fights per weekend.Matt90210 wrote:Shit I didn't even know there was a fight. Was this marketed at all?DRiccio21 wrote:Khan looked sharp early then got caught.

Re: Boxing
Just watched this fight. Holy shit!
What a fight. I'm shocked they didn't call it after the first knock down. Amir was wobbling like a newborn giraffe.
That was action packed and I have no idea how Amir kept up.
Great fight

Re: Boxing
exactly.
but its Amir Khan... he's one of the biggest up and coming names, they were giving him WAYYYYY too much time, thats how you can get really hurt.
i was telling my boy who i was watching with (he bet on Khan) that it should have ended after the first knock down, he obviously disagreed.
he was still out on his feet a whole round later, although he was still trying to fight back which is commendable. he won a lot of fans but obviously lost the fight

Re: Boxing
I thought it was over after the first knockdown. The ref gave him way to much time and he was still wobbly.
Shocked he lost that fight but that's boxing where one punch catches you.
I don't know much about this division but will they rematch?

I think it seems like a natural rematch at some point... Khan was real sharp before he got caughtCnasty wrote:I thought it was over after the first knockdown. The ref gave him way to much time and he was still wobbly.
