Why did you go with the Choice package? We got it a month ago, and I told my wife we had to go with the Premier package so we could get the Mtn. Network (the Mountain West conference network), and though its the most expensive, it's still going to save off what we paid for cable normally. But the Premier is only 115 normally, seems like when you combine your choice and your movies, you're paying the same thing.
BabyFirstTV $4.99 1 $4.99 (don't ask, wife wanted it)
$5 Off for 12 months - Requires Redemption Free 1 Free
HD Access $10.00 1 $10.00
PREMIER $114.99 1 $114.99
NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ included for the 2011 Season Free 1 Free
NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ To-Go included for the 2011 Season Free 1 Free
Whole-Home DVR Service $3.00 1 $3.00
DIRECTV DVR Service $7.00 1 $7.00
HD Receiver $99.00 1 $99.00
HD Receiver $99.00 1 $99.00
HD DVR Receiver $199.00 1 $199.00
Hardware Instant Rebate ($199.00) 1 ($199.00)
Hardware Instant Rebate ($50.00) 1 ($50.00)
Hardware Instant Rebate ($99.00) 1 ($99.00)
$5 off for 12 months – Requires Redemption (Events) Free 1 Free
Order Total $52.97
By the way ... since I haven't watched Sunday Ticket yet, have to say the best thing with DirectTV is the Whole House DVR thing, I love it, starting a show downstairs, finishing in the bedroom, makes things so much easier.

My price for the Choice is really low compared to what Im paying now for cable and I dont watch all that much TV.
The selling point for me was after the 12 month period and the price jumps, its still considerably lower than my bill now.
The Premier one after the initial price amount jumps up significantly more and not worth it for the amount of TV we actually watch.
$85 compared to $115 was my deciding factor.

How does the DirecTV Cinema work??
I have been reading on it and it makes no sense to me. It says 400 new releases and over 6000 movies at no additional cost.
Then I was checking the online guide thing and there is a "$" next to it???
Is it basically their On Demand but you must have access to those channels like HBO,Showtime, and Cinemax to watch those movies and if not, its PPV??
Very confusing.

on the guide go to channel 1000 and up. those are the on demand channels. If you don't have the channel in your lineup it will tell you the number to call and add it.

So during these first 3 months of free HBO for instance I can watch any movie or show that HBO offers on demand for free but once my free 3months runs out, I cant access them anymore basically.
Is it only a list of shows or movies or every single movie HBO shows including old episodes such as Entourage season 1 or something?

I haven't used it that much. I don't think it has the old shows on it though, just this seasons. But you can access HBOGo on your ipad now using your directv sign in.

Alot of the free movies are documentaries...
you get on demand of the last 3 or so episodes of most shows on the free channels, ex: pawn stars; community; 30 rock; etc.
the ones with the $ are pay on demand, just like the cinema channels in the 100's.

for those of you that have the Sunday NFL ticket, has anyone called this year so far to see what type of rebates they will offer you to keep the package? What about if you completely cancel the Sunday NFL ticket, will they call you back and offer you the free promotion?

call back and try again. i had a friend who canceled his not knowing he could barter a better deal. he called back on wednesday and, with credits, got it for free. it's all about the rep you talk to.
make sure when you call to say "cancel service" at the first two automated prompts. that gets you to a retention rep who has the power to deal.

I'm really thinking about dumping dish and going with Direct. I'm just not sure how much time is on my contract.
