- In 2004, the Panthers played and lost to a New England team led by a future Hall of Fame quarterback (Tom Brady). In 2017, the Falcons will be playing a New England team led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.

- In 2004, the Panthers faced New England in Super Bowl XXXVIII played in… Houston TX. In 2017, the Falcons will face New England in Super Bowl LI played in… Houston TX.
