I actually didn't watch last night. I planned on heading over to BW3s around 11... but it took us 2 hours to get our bay at Top Golf. I got in my truck around 1215-1230 or so and the fight card was over thanks to how quick all of the fights went. I watched some post fight stuff and checked out Sherdog. It sounds like most objective people lean towards Conor. Some fight stats shade towards Diaz, but most say that it's due to volume as opposed to actual damage done. Reading the comments about Nate repeatedly shooting really make me want to see the fight. Conor had to tag him pretty solid or at least neutralize his standup for him to look to take it to the ground and maximize his BJJ. Hopefully I'll get to watch it sometime this week.

Dave and Nick are absolutely correct there.
As far as the shooting for a takedown that didn't happen. They were playing the clench game up against the cage and Nate would drop for a takedown. Conor had great takedown defense.

Good input there. That makes sense for him to make that move in that scenario. He fights much better holding range than trying to sit in the pocket. He either needs to be all-in or all-out to be effective.

Nothing from this?!?
Mickey Gall calling out Sage Northcutt was awesome. I'd pay money just to watch that fight alone. Sage is good, but I'm not buying the UFC hype.
Looked like Overeem was a little butt hurt during his interview.
No way in hell did Jessica Eye lose her fight.

Overeem seemed out of shape. compared to how ripped he normally is he looked real soft in the little bit he stood still and wasn't running.

Why good riddance? I don't really see how he harmed anyone.

Was a predictable finish and unentertaining fight imo. Don't see any of his future fights (if he even gets another shot in UFC) being any better either. So good riddance in the sense that it will be one less wasted match on the fight card

i thought it was a great example to people of how much of freaks these dudes are.
he literally beat the shit out him from beginning to end. just throwing him around and getting into whatever position he needed to get to.

The amount of work and effort to just be competitive is unreal and understated

The fight should have been a draw. No clue how the first round wasn't a 10-8.

I'll just dub this "Middie" day... since we're talking up Kyle Schwarber in another thread, here's a quick note on another Middletown product...
Kayla Harrison, 2x Olympic Gold medalist in Judo and the youngest recognized 6th degree black belt has signed an MMA contract with a small organization. I don't know where she eventually fits into the MMA landscape though. She's 26 and is around 165lbs. The first thought is that she could eventually get to 145 and help open up that division (with Cyborg), but that's very hopeful and a long way away. Regardless, great news for her. There had been quite a few rumors going back 2-3 years ago about her potentially giving MMA a shot.

Jones, 29, became the first UFC athlete to enter arbitration with USADA last last month, regarding sanctions for a failed out-of-competition drug test on June 16. An independent arbitration panel announced its findings on Monday and suspended Jones for the maximum length of one year.
The suspension is retroactive to July 6, the date Jones was pulled from a UFC 200 pay-per-view title fight against Daniel Cormier, which was scheduled for July 9 in Las Vegas
Just in time for the typical big event in early July.

Yes it does! From top to bottom this card is stacked.
I'll have to download it after I get home on Sunday since I am going to the Husker game that same day.
