Heat Big 3.
Marlins and all of their moves, mainly Ozzie.
Dolphins get Peyton.
My Lebby references are just gonna be intolerable at that point.

My money is on this. I know Arizona is the favorite in LV... but everything makes sense for him to end up in Miami.

With the Colts set to release Peyton Manning after 14 epic years, where will he be playing football next season?
Bets placed after Manning's new team becomes known will be void.
Price
Price
Miami Dolphins +250
Arizona Cardinals +330
Kansas City Chiefs +400
New York Jets +650
Denver Broncos +700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +700
Houston Texans +750
Washington Redskins +800
Seattle Seahawks +800
Jacksonville Jaguars +1600
no, the favorite is not Arizona

ajalves wrote:he cant go anywhere with the franchise tag.
its essentially a 1 year guaranteed contract worth an average of the 5 highest paid players at that position.
so brees will get like 15 mill for one year guaranteed
The franchise tag calculation changed this year. It used to be the an offer of at least the average of the top 5 players at the same position or 120% of last year's contract, whichever is great. Now it's based on the % of salary cap used for the position or 120% of last year's contract.
Under the old system, Brees would have received over 16m this year. Under the new system, it's 14.4m.
For QBs the difference isn't much, but for positions like DT, the difference is amazing. If I'm right, I think the DT number moved from something like 11m down to 5m.

It's a pretty epic blunder by the Saints, really.

Not that it matters... Cal Neva opened the prop line as follows: (pregame.com)
Arizona Cardinals: 19% ($100 wins $250)
Miami Dolphins: 16.5% ($100 wins $300)
Washington Redskins: 13% ($100 wins $400)
New York Jets: 9.5% ($100 wins $600)
Kansas City Chiefs: 7.5% ($100 wins $800)
Retire: 6% ($100 wins $1,000)
Seattle Seahawks: 6% ($100 wins $1,000)
Houston Texans: 4% ($100 wins $1,500)
San Francisco 49ers: 3% ($100 wins $2,000)
Denver Broncos: 3% ($100 wins $2,000)
Tennessee Titans: 1.5% ($100 wins $4,000)
Team Not Listed: 11% ($100 wins $500)
Changes since opening odds . . .
$100 on retiring started off paying only $250, now paying $1,000.
$100 on Cardinals started off paying $2,500, now pays only $250.
$100 on Chiefs started off paying $5,000, now pays only $800.
*Special thanks to Cal-Neva sportsbooks

I don't think they had another move besides working out a long term deal. Brees is very popular in the community and they basically guaranteed that he's not going to resign, unless they wow him now. They used the exclusive tag on him. It's not like they have a legit backup, but if they did, they could have at least used the non-exclusive and received the 2 #1s if someone signed him. The Saints aren't exactly having a smooth off-season right now.

Well, I wouldn't say that.
IMO, he's still signing a long term deal with the Saints, I'd put the % somewhere in the 90s that he'll still sign with the Saints.
But just allowing the possibility of only having him for 1 more season is just so bad. If Peyton got $69mil guaranteed for 3 seasons and that's what Drew wanted and wouldn't budge and even if it hurts your ability to resign other important pieces, you STILL sign Brees to that deal way before you franchise him, IMO.

OF course he is.
Just like Manning is and Brady is and Rodgers is. Thing is, they make the system, the system doesn't make them.

Good point on Grantland about Miami... while having R. Bush / B. Marshall / D. Bess (slot) and potentially even bringing in R. Wayne would be awesome... that OL is suspect. Does Peyton really want to lineup behind a shaky OL?

how shaky is it?
Jake Long is a monster. better qb who makes better/faster reads makes everyone around you better, including the line.
on the flipside, a guy like Ben Roethlisberger who holds the ball forever makes every lineman seem worse.
imo. but i don't know shit about football.
