What other sports are you watching on NBC besides sunday night football and notre dame football sometimes?
ESPN is still the king of live sports with multiple channels with all the major sports.
No hockey though.
I would say I only watch Monday night football and some CFB on ESPN most of the fall winter, and only a random baseball game in the summer. Wouldn't watch the NBA if I was paid to.
NBCSN and NHL Network get equal or more watch time for me.
I think my order is Fox, NBC then ESPN. UFC causes most of the Fox viewing, while soccer and other MMA drives NBC. I usually only have ESPN on for MNF and the occasional college football or basketball game. With college football, that can just as easily be on a local channel.
I think the discussion at hand really comes down to the other programming. The internet has basically replaced newspapers. I think many of them also had the same attitude as the major networks that you mentioned. On top of that, does anyone really care to watch PTI, Around the Horn or even 8 episodes of Sportscenter? Why? In 15 minutes I can hit their website / app and have all of that information, without the commercials and pathetic banter.

I agree with this completely. The spending on a SportsCenter set is pretty insane considering I don't think many even watch SportsCenter anymore. Not like back in the day where I watched it everyday almost.
Not to mention all the other crap they do that is non sports related lately and the turn off that is ESPN anymore outside of live sports.

I used to always record and watch PTI daily. Skipping commercials makes it a 17 minute show (give or take), so it isn't like it's a major time sink. But, even that I can't find the time for with wife and kids as I'd be watching it at 10 pm (vs watching while I ate or made dinner back in single life).
I never watch Sportscenter anymore. Sometimes the Scott Van Pelt one comes on after some later sporting event. What is up with that show? Is that even SC or is it just some spin-off sports news/talk thing he does?
Check here and it will tell you which local channels you can get in your area: http://tvfool.com
I think I'm going to drop the Dish. Only pay $37 but we don't watch anything on it now.
Are you going to utilize an AppleTV or something like that?
I have Google Chromecast and my parents have Xfinity that I can use their password for Apps that require login. We have Netflix and considering Hulu for the TV shows my wife wants to watch.
