It's unfair as I don't even know the dude, but I'm 99% certain he'll be just like Obama...hip and cooler and more relatable/down to Earth than past presidents then once he gets into office, WE HATE HIM!!!

Everything Donald is telling you is just lies.

Hillary, that's just a lie and you know it.

And with that recap, we don't have to bother to watch the debate.

Does he live in America?

And I assume they aren't close and haven't been so in a loooooong time?

Honestly don't know a lot about him. Same father, different mother. Wiki says US Citizen, but born and living in Kenya and ran for office there. Him and Barack were each others best man in their weddings. Helped Barack somewhat with his campaign. But otherwise, not much.

I'd like to think that we don't know right now and might even be 2yrs away from starting to see it.

Trump (in the last 2 days) called out Paul Ryan suggesting the reason that Ryan isn't supporting him fully is because Ryan wants the nomination for 2020. On the Dem side, I think that guy didn't do himself any favors this election season.

To piggyback on a little of what Corey said and Riccio too, I feel like we just need to hit rock bottom, and this seemingly has to be it, though I guess it could get worse.

And from that, we can get a person, probably younger, who can create a grassroots campaign and actually be a real person and not just a politician who will do and say whatever, and can approach all of these things from just a human standpoint. Not play any of the games at all and only speak on actual issues.

I understand the game and why that seemingly can't happen, but I'm ready for that guy to take the US by storm and just take over. It probably needs to be a famous person with a non-political background because you won't actually rise through the corrupt system being the way I described above.

i dont think the US wants to hit rock bottom lol. Americans (and as Canadian, myself too) don't know what "rock bottom" truly is.

Well sure, I didn't mean the country as a whole. I meant the whole 2 party system.

If Clinton/Trump isn't rock bottom, and it very well may not be, that's a scary thought.

That's because Ryan is absolutely running in 2020 and has to distance himself from Trump to have a shot

I was thinking I'm going to run a campaign this offseason before putting the live/board draft up for a vote. If I can successfully turn around that 19-6 deficit into a winning vote, I think that would be enough show my worth and consider running for the oval office.

I will need a Secretary of Defense though...

Even if he does try to run and distance himself if there is another candidate like Trump (not a politician) then he'd probably be ousted like all the other politicians.

I'd like to see Trey Gowdy run.

There's no one else like Trump. And unless he tries to do it again, Ryan will likely have a very good shot at Hillary (if she's alive/not impeached) or whomever the Dems throw out there.

Republicans playing the long game on this one. No one was gonna beat trump in the primaries, and anyone that tried was going to get torn apart by their own team. Keep the golden boy out of that, and opposing that, and he becomes the clear cut Republican candidate in 2020 and a solid antithesis to the 4 years of Hillary

There has to be some college kid out there that are smart enough and charismatic enough to see the game Obama played to be a popular guy, speak fantastically and connect with a younger voting pool and not alienate oldies as well.
political figures are 'groomed' by the machine.

so there will be some well spoken good looking minority that they decide is best for checking boxes.

in terms of getting actual ground roots 'improvement' you need a bernie like revolt with a message that promotes smaller gov't/growth.

those types of guys are few and far between. you almost need a guy who doesn't need the money like Trump but then also is balanced and not a power hungry ego maniac who actually wants whats best for others. those people are out there but they are unicorns and typically don't want to get into political service as they can make bigger impacts in private sector. ie Elon types with speaking skills and better personalities

people like that often get assassinated

if you look thru history of people who promote love, peace, unity, equality, strong values, questioning establishment, promoting change etc they end up shot or with some mysterious illness nobody else seems to have.

Lincoln, JFK, John Lennon, MLK, Bob Marley, Ali, etc.

i'm typically not a conspiracy theory type, but i do believe those types are the biggest threats to the powerful because their messages can empower the masses. thats dangerous to the establishment. as is the internet which is why the NSA is so powerful now.

Not turning this into a Bernie thing, but you guys would actually want Clinton or Trump before Bernie?

I wish the news would would actually report the news. One big thing that Trump said yesterday isn't getting any news (or very little if it's out there).

Congressmen and Senators would have term limits by amending the constitution. I think this is the first step in getting rid of corrupt politicians that do it for the money. I think they said there were 168 millionaires in Congress and Senate, wonder how many were before being elected
