This match should be 3-3. Italy's had a goal not given, and a goal disallowed.
If either goal is given properly, Italy's not pushing like they are and Slovakia doesn't get that third goal. And of course Alexi Lalas will love this when they go to studio. He couldn't be more anti-Italy if he stamped "I hate Italy" on his fucking forehead.

S14: N Texas 7-1
S15: Wake 8-5
S16-21: Washington 9-4, 10-3, 8-5, 9-4, 7-6, 6-7
S22: Ohio 8-5
S23: ECU 12-2
S24-26: Kentucky 8-5, 5-7, 5-7
Career: 102-61

Sorry, but he was offsides. You might be correct on the goaline clearance, but the line shows he was offside.jsence2 wrote:That is on par with the Dempsey offside yesterday for being absolute HORSESHIT calls.

When you lose one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and one of the three best holding midfielders in the world, we'll see how good ANY team is.
And there's another goal for Italy. Should be 4 for us now.

No he wasn't.
Look at the defender's back foot. It kept him onside. If you look at bodies, yes; if you look at his foot, he's keeping him onside with his foot.
Meanwhile Slovakia is wasting time left and right. They better add at LEAST another minute.

Howard Webb should not ref another match in this World Cup. Neither should the linesmen, absolutely horrid. One goal not given, one goal disallowed, both should have counted.
Meanwhile Slovakia is blatantly wasting time and see no bookings.
Pirlo's injury was the undoing of this team, it's like Argentina losing Messi or Spain losing Xavi. He was the lynchpin of this team, and you could see that when he was out there.
Thank you Howard Webb for handing them the victory. I need a drink.

Re: ***Official World Cup Talk Thread***
decision that stated being "nearer to an opponent's goal line" meant that "any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent typically being the goalkeeper). The arms are not included in this definition."[2] This is taken to mean that any part of the attacking player named in this decision has to be past the part of the second-last defender closest to his goal line (excluding the arms) and past the part of the ball closest to the defenders' goal line.jsence2 wrote:brwnbear wrote:Sorry, but he was offsides. ANY PART OF THE BODY OTHER THAN ARMS. you admitted that his body was, so that would be offsides. if 1 leg is onside you expect a ref to call that? he sees a guys whole body on the other side he will call it 100%

Sorry but you are wrong here. It doesnt matter if your foot is behind the offside line only if your body is beyond the second defender.
The striker was on the same line as the defender, why hasn't he been called offside?
It's not an offside if they are both "on the same line", however there's a slight twist to this soccer offside rule. Even if the players are on the line with their feet, but the striker is leaned forward, a keen referee will call an offside. It's an offside by the slightest of margins, but still an offside. Subsequently, if the defender is leaned forward, he leaves the striker in offside.
The offside rule really comes down to two things: a player’s position and whether that player’s position is involved in active play. Let’s take a closer look at these to get a better understanding of the offside rule.
and...
A player is in the offside position if the player is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the last defender.
So what does “nearer to the opponents’ goal line” mean? If any part of your head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the last defender, then you are in an offside position. A player’s arms are not considered.
