Re: PS4 in 2013
So here's a new one. PS4 was working fine last night. Get on it today and no video, sound though but just for a few seconds then it would stop wait a few seconds and sound would start again. Tried rebooting multiple times, safe mode, etc. Nothing worked. New hdmi cable, power supply tried it all.
Called Sony. They were Stumped as well. Started filling out the return paperwork when the guy decided to have my try hooking it up tutu a different tv. It worked. Came back to the main tv and it didn't work....
Unplugged both the PS4 and the tv for 30 seconds, plugged back in and bingo. It works again.
So...WTF?

This was an issue early on the with PS4s, about 10% of them.
Unplug your HDMI cord and see if your pins are bent. If so, then get a screwdriver and flatten your HDMI port on your PS4. Some of them were not flush with the unit for some reason and it was causing broken HDMI cords.
If that doesn't fix it, try a different port on the TV as Derek said it might be your HDMI port.

10%? Yeahhhh I don't think so. Failure rate was last reported at under 1%.jsence2 wrote:Wasted Memory wrote:So here's a new one. PS4 was working fine last night. It's not a "failure". It was a manufacturing issue that is resolved in 5 seconds. I got the 10% number from an IGN report. But again, wasn't that hard to fix so it wasn't a real "problem".

Re: PS4 in 2013
Link? Articles I've read have all counted the HDMI problems in the failure rate. 10% would be a huge news story with how any units have sold from the first batch of consoles.jsence2 wrote:sixpackdan101 wrote:10%? Re: PS4 in 2013
Exactly. And no way your average consumer finds out how to fix the problem and doesn't send it back to Sony. Even if I had got one with the jacked up HDMI port I would send it back for a new one rather then mess with it. System fails to display=failure.Cnasty wrote:10%?!?!

IGN article from Chris Perreira quotes Sony as saying I believe .4% of ps4s, but that's for all issues combined.

Re: PS4 in 2013
If you guys are looking to sell your PS4 games instead of trading them in, try eBay.
Ive sold 2 for $60 each already and have been fast payers.
Still have zero idea why they dont just download them or go to a store and get them on their own but I will take it.

We need games to play!!
Re: PS4 in 2013
It will be, but it won't be out until early 2014 after it was delayed prior to launch.texasfan4444 wrote:I read a post somewhere that stated DriveCLub will be free for PS+ members...any one see or can confirm this?

This decision also affects PlayStation Plus members’ Instant Game Collection for launch. To be clear, DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition will still be part of the Instant Game Collection when it is released. For the PS4 launch, in addition to Resogun, I’m pleased to announce that Contrast, the highly anticipated game from Compulsion Games will also be available to PlayStation Plus members for free as part of Instant Game Collection. If you’re not aware of Contrast, it will whisk you away to a surreal vaudevillian, film-noir inspired reality full of performance, intrigue, shadow-play and drama. Please check out the trailer below. I’m sure you’ll agree that it is unlike anything you will have played before.
