College Hoops Thread - 2014

Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
It was the right decision. Chances of making that shot off a rebound are slim to none. I really thought the difference turned out to be UVA's inability to find a 2nd post to play Dawson. Tobey was ineffective and couldn't cover. Gill was the better cover and provided offense but he was slowed by a twisted ankle. Gill's injury also effectively ended UVA having any post presence on the offensive end.Weasel wrote:I was confused as to why the announcers were so surprised that Izzo intentionally missed the last free throw with 1.4 seconds left and up two. That might sound like an excuse but it's not. Injuries are part of the game and something that has to be overcome. Especially in a game between evenly matched teams. MSU showed a ton of poise to comeback when they had fallen behind. They were simply a team that has been there and done it before. UVAs a team that hasn't been there in a long time and just couldn't find a way to compensate for having no cover for Dawson.
Again, no excuse, MSU proved themselves and deserved the win.
UVA will learn from this. This is well built program now. BJ Stith and Dominque Wilkins stepson come next season. They will both have to adjust but they up the team athleticism.

Really looking forward to the Zona - Wisconsin game tonight. I need Wisconsin for my bracket to have a chance.

Let's up the stakes. If Weasel wins, the substance one puts on top of spaghetti and other pasta will henceforth be known as "sauce" on the boards. If Riccio wins, it's "gravy".DRiccio21 wrote:winner gets a freeze pop. (no purples)

Done. I want purples includedDRiccio21 wrote:winner gets a freeze pop. (no purples)

It is already "sauce", end of discussion.LetsGoPeay wrote:Let's up the stakes. If Weasel wins, the substance one puts on top of spaghetti and other pasta will henceforth be known as "sauce" on the boards. If Riccio wins, it's "gravy".DRiccio21 wrote:winner gets a freeze pop. (no purples)

Good luck to both teams though.
I like them both. Have friends, outside of the NDL, that are fans of both teams.
And I think this will be the first time in my life I root for Mich -shit- igan
When you buy a jar of Spaghetti Sauce, it says sauce right on the jar, it doesn't say gravy.

Why? Because three weeks ago I wasn't sure I even felt this team deserved to make the tournament, and now we've gone further than anybody thought they would? Because I'm not going to be disappointed if we lose in the Elite Eight after having lost our most important defensive player last night for the rest of the tournament?
Obviously I'd love a title, but I'm also realistic at this point. Losing WCS is massive, as shown last night by UofL going 21/29 at one point on shots in the paint. Dakari is good on offense but sucks at protecting the rim. Without WCS in there, a title isn't going to happen.

I need Arizona. Then I somehow need Florida and Michigan State to lose (had Kansas and Virginia). I took Michigan to win the midwest so if UK loses, I get that consolation.
I'm still at 99.5% on ESPN and top 20 out of 1000 on the local ESPN, but if Florida and MSU make it I won't have a shot at anything.

The only thing I know about Uconn is that kemba walker guy is really good
Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
This Florida game was basically a walk over. I feel the same way with MSU over UConn. The other two games could go either way.
Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
Best game of the tourney there. Kaminsky is a monster. Keeps my bracket alive!!!!!
Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
Since 2003, no #1 or 2 seed has made it to the Final Four after winning its first-round game by less than 10 points.
Re: College Hoops Thread - 2014
Kaminsky is so fucking incredible.
i can't believe he doesn't get more love.

As a fellow large human being I can definitely appreciate his agility. He's extremely skilled too. I'm more amazed at how far he's come in such a short time. He did nothing last year. I don't remember him even being in games.DRiccio21 wrote:Kaminsky is so fucking incredible.

If UConn and Michigan win today, the Final Four will be Florida and the last three teams to beat them.
