we need to get rid of FA compensation, or increase it. 12m is too low. In real life its 18m. We should be around there so it hurts to actually offer. Im all for getting rid of it tho so no FA is wasted cause no one wants to pay the pick fee.

Are our average salaries in line with real life? If so, i'd agree with moving it up to the MLB number.

Yeah, it really depends on how our salaries are and other finances compare to real life.

MLB - 4.1 billion
NDLB - 3.1 billion
this isnt taking into account retired players
thats 75% of the $$, so comp would be 13.4M, which isnt much more but still more than 12.

We voted on this a while back and it got voted down and it was a landslide. Someone can post it again if they want to.
As far as raising the offer amount. I have looked everywhere for a way to do that and I have not seen a way or I would have propsed to bump it up a while ago.

another argument is, our budgets are roughly mlb payrolls. we know how much we have and with the exception of say NY, LA or Bos missing a player, if a team has say 40m to spend, theyre gonna spend it. So if i compare 2018 salaries of MLB (4.1m) to our current budgets, it becomes 3.8 billion, or 300m diff, which is 93% or 16.72m for compensation.

We also prefer virtually no injuries ever, so there's that.
Lots of rules we have now seem to favor guys sitting in free agency unrealistically. Part of it(comp picks) aren't rules per se, it's just guys valuing draft picks way too high IMO.
I'm not for ditching comp picks, but I would be for raising the value of the QO, probably even if it doesn't 100% jive with MLB payrolls, just to try and get more guys off the free agency board.

QO is average of highest 125 salaries so $15.66M by my count if I read the explanation correctly online

The current system is too easy to manipulate. Take C Luis Molina for example. I wanted to re-sign him, and he wouldn't resign. So I am qualifying him at $12m knowing full well that most likely nobody will sign him. I leave him sitting as a FA until after the spring and I sign him to a 1 year deal at $7 or $8m. Instead of 5 years at $13m per. I can do the exact same thing again with the same player next season.
We either need to raise it for next year or get rid of it all together. Problem with raising it is that you would have to monitor it every season because it would always change based on our salaries.

1. Appears we can't raise it so there's that.
2. It's just opinion here, but I don't like changing rules because guys don't take advantage of certain things or placed too high of a value on 1 thing(draft picks) that they miss out on great free agents due to comp pick rules. I know it's a workaround you can manipulate, but that's just smart GM moves IMO.

(3) Cactus Ramirez, (9) Carlos Ramos, (3) Moto Noda, and (7) Domingo Enriquez were not IFA. Not sure why we still have scouting discoveries though
