Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
BTW... didn't forget you guys last night... just got tied up. From the screen shot I saw, you look good to go with that box checked. Even though I won't be playing, I may make a few lineups with you guys and just post them here, to help add to the thinking process. Unlikely that I'll have any input tonight though. My day/night looks brutal. Busy in the office trying to wrap stuff up because my work week is ending mid-day Thursday. I've got a lot of classwork tonight, then after work tomorrow I'm heading down to the Bengals/Browns game. Friday I'm off... but I've got some pretty important stuff scheduled. Hopefully I can contribute some Friday evening/this weekend. Good job last night.

My team underperformed the Basketball Monster projections, but no biggie.
I lost a H2H and eeked out a 50/50 win.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
I agree but I will also say, my choices were made by OOTP style with the more green on ratio and value which got me under budget, picked me a winner!
I am sure there are way more components I should be looking at but for a beginner, I ran with it.

Once you "Enter" your team, are you locked in?
I just joined and am doing an NBA dribbler 50/50 to get my feet wet.
Just curious and trying to learn how it works.
So far though, I have this setup for my team for tonight:
PG Kyrie Irving $7,800
PG Kirk Hinrich $5,200
SG Kevin Martin $6,000
SG Jimmy Butler $6,000
SF LeBron James $10,600
SF Paul Pierce $5,900
PF Markieff Morris $6,300
PF Taj Gibson $5,700
C Roy Hibbert $6,200

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
I'm trying to figure out the best/easiest way to configure a lineup with the highest projected points, other than just tinkering and using the ratio ratings closely.
It's probably all trial and error, I don't think there's an easy way, I guess.

No, you can change it up as much as you like before that player tips off.The_Niddler wrote:Once you "Enter" your team, are you locked in?

No, you can edit as much as you like prior to tip unless the rules of that matchup dictate that you cant but I havent seen that yet.The_Niddler wrote:Once you "Enter" your team, are you locked in?

A separate website called Basketball Monster that helps with projections.The_Niddler wrote:Cnasty wrote:I agree but I will also say, my choices were made by OOTP style with the more green on ratio and value which got me under budget, picked me a winner!

It costs $89.95, but if you deposited at least $20 on Draft Kings, you should be able to google "Draft Kings basketball monster", and it'll link you to the steps to get the Basketball Monster access for free.

I just deposited $10 for now.
I can do more, but again, I just wanted to get my feet wet and see how it all works.

And I do see now, it says:
You can come back to edit your team any time before the game start time.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
Prelimary lineup, subject to change:
Deron Williams
Trey Burke
Alec Burks
Evan Fournier
Josh Smith
Kawhi Leonard
Nerlens Noel
Markieff Morris
DeMarcus Cousins
Projected points: 276.22
Ratio average: 46.19
I don't like both Burks in there, but BM loves both of them, as well as Gordon Heyward tonight against CLE.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
JJ Hickson is suspended. Looks like Mosgov may be his backup and is giving the best value of all players tonight according to Basketball Monster.
I may tinker and see if I can work Mosgov into a lineup somehow.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
A lot of last second rework, a lot of frustration as the Euro dude scored 3.2 points, and in the end, it was a waste of time as it didn't affect my outcomes at all.Cnasty wrote:You remember last time when you added a European!

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
if i dont switch my lineup i win every game, i do and lose every one. and barely too. in hockey i lost on a last second goal by Franson on my team, only player in the nhl who could possibly fuck me and did. worst part is i didnt even wanna sign up for that game it was a misread.
ugh.
ugh.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
You don't necessarily want to pick the team based 100% on highest projected points... that sounds opposite of what I've said... I know. You can do that and be pretty successful, but here is something to consider... you'll want to understand the likelihood of those players achieving the projections and for consistent success, you wall to have 3-4 core pieces in your team that are assured of getting those returns.
When making my team, my first priority is identifying 2-3 incredibly high ratio guys that are cheap. Then I look to find 3 above average players (off the top of my head, 6,500+ in cost) with a high ratio, that look to be a lock for success. From there, I fill in the gaps. You'll find that some players are very easy to predict (Kevin Love, Nene Hilario, Chris Bosh come to mind) and others can be incredibly wild (Ryan Anderson, Klay Thompson, Kyle Lowry... at least in previous seasons). Having a stable core that you know is good for their ratio is important, because it gives you a safety net when the high ratio/cheap players don't come through.
I saw that someone took Perry Jones last night at a cost of 6800. When I saw his cost, I kind of flinched. I know Jones has the potential to be a stat stuffer and has show some great flashes... but you have to consider that you're betting 6800 in salary on him coming through with that number. That's a large risk right now. You try to avoid risks like this for more stable options at similar price points.

Re: Fanduel / Draft Kings Discussion
Thanks, good to know.
I actually do something similar, the very first thing I do is to sort by ratio and try to find all the guys projected to score between 20-25 points, but with super high ratios. I then try to work 2-3 of those guys into a lineup, if possible.
The rest, I'm guessing we'll get better as we go along with predicting and which guys are reliable, going along with our general knowledge of this stuff already.
