the whole sport of boxing is retarded as fuck. lets punch each other in the head like 100 times until one of us falls because we've been knocked unconscious. Then get back up and do it again.

I did not watch the fight. I usually grab the torrent but I just assumed I know what happened. Wow. I will grab it now.

Pac still won the fight, just wasn't nearly what they made it out to be.

i thought that the night of the fight... it was a bad decision, but i didn't think it was as crazy as many did. i had it 8-4

I had it 8 - 4 the night of the fight with it possibly being 10 - 2. I had Pac winning 8 rounds seemingly without much doubt. Bradley won 2 with 2 being really close. I don't see any way they could have given him more than 4 rounds. Just look at the punch stats to see how onesided the fight was. Pac almost doubled the number of power shots landed by Bradley. It was a horrible decision.

I didn't watch the video. I will when I get home. Watched the fight though and it looked pretty damn onesided then. I know he was tagging Bradley pretty hard just about every round. You said you had the fight scored the same as I did. 8 - 4 is or should be a pretty convincing win. Unless we are just both blind as hell.

its funny how, even with evidence, people cant change their incorrect opinion lol.

the video basically breaks down alot of the punches that look like they are big shots, that were nowhere close or blocked... yet Lampley still shouts and screams about how Pac is connecting.

the guy who made the video still thinks Pac won teh fight, but its interesting to look at either way to show again, why EVERYONE's opinion are pointless. thats the true reason boxing sucks. unless someone gets KO'd, its a perception and opinion contest with bias and everything else that comes along with it.

I disagree. I love boxing. I watched some great fights and great fighters growing up though. This generation doesn't have the fighters I had when I was younger. You also have MMA which is more popular but I just can't get in to.

i'm a boxing fanatic.

i watch every fight on tv whether its some russian dudes fighting on some random sports channel or its a bigger fight on friday night fights or an HBO fight or a ppv fight. i watch them all and have been for 20+ years.

but the fact a judge can determine the outcome based on what he 'thinks' he is seeing is ultimately the reason the sport suffers. more so than the corruption.

Bingo. This is my issue with Boxing and MMA. The fact that it can come down to opinion really bugs me.

I can agree with this. The only problem is that there really isn't another option.
I think these 3 judges were watching a different fight. I've seen quite a few fights like that though. I've watched fights where I believe the announcers are watching a completely different fight than I am. I don't tend to listen to them too much once the fighters are in the ring. Especially Lampley. Usually the only one ringside I listen to during HBO fights is the third announcer who is usually a former fighter or trainer. The other two usually don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Would it be conceivable for them to have 5 judges?

thats a pretty good fucking point.

why not just give 100 certified people a scorecard

maybe 100 is extreme, but why fucking 3? definitely leaves mroe room for error

Just watched the video. Thats why I don't listen to Lampley. That is also what I mean by announcers watching fights different fights than the one I'm watching. They can be so biased going into a fight that it seems the other guy isn't there. Lampley gets excited about seeing punches land or thinking he sees punches land and completely misses counters thrown by the opposing fighter. Emanuel Steward or Big George always used to pipe in trying to point them out but were usually ignored. Leonard was good about being non-biased also.
This video shows those questionable shots but watching the fight I did see him landing some good ones. I still believe he won the fight handily.

I had no opinion on Lampley or any of the commentators going in but my god this video was like the Zapruder tape! It is crazy how many times he got excited about absolutely nothing. I never noticed it before. Then again, I haave spent the better part of the last seven years watching boxing on mute as I often watch it in a bar.

At least with the mute on you don't get to listen to Larry Merchant's post fight interviews. God is he horrible. The only post fight interview of his that I liked was when Marlon Starling didn't know that he had been knocked out. That was pure gold. He had no clue and was wondering why they couldn't continue the fight. "Knocked out? I didn't get knocked out. Do I look knocked out to you?" His manager had to pat him on the shoulder and tell him "Yep. You were knocked out."
