I have worked in two separate technical companies; one an ISP and one a distribution company. There is not one single, solitary crash excepting the equipment room being hit with a missile (or an infrastructure problem like an entire grid going down) that would cause an outage this long. None. There is something missing from this story. Are you trying to tell me Sony - fucking Sony - can't get a handle on an "intrusion" in less than a week?

True story - I completely agree here.

Either this group/legion/army of hackers are just that damn good or Sony is fucking sloppy & somebody will be getting fired on Monday.

To Trendon's point, even a missile to your main databases wouldn't yield this kind of outage.

Could all this be Sony's way of saying we aint working on Easter weekend we will have her back up on Tuesday?

I'm telling you, somewhere down the line, maybe not on the PS3 but on whatever comes afterwards, this will be a primary reason that they'll charge us for online play.

The entire network is being rebuilt from the ground up. This is about as major as it gets.

They said they're taking the opportunity to "rebuild" the servers with higher security and (supposedly) higher performance.

According to a source at Sony, the servers will start coming back online in Japan on Monday, and the EU and USA on Tuesday.

It looks like the entire thing might boil down to a major problem with the PS Store. There appears to be a bunch of holes in the store and lots of people were getting free stuff. So, we are talking about tons of lost revenue.

There are all kinds of shit on YouTube about how to do it.

Kind of, it's not a one time hack thing. It's been going on a for a while now. It has something to do with Dev kits.
