Re: Golfers
Quick Example from my area:
http://dayton.craigslist.org/spo/5108194032.html
Nike Sumos... irons, 5 wood and Odyssey 2 ball putter, including bag... $300. Could probably be had for $200-$250.
If you plan to regrip and fit, I'd guess it's another $200ish? Dan might be able to give a more accurate number there.

Have you checked out Overstock.com? They have TaylorMade, Calloway, etc... on there.

Sucks here in Jax, we don't have anything BUT Edwin Watts. We have Dicks, but no Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith around. And the Tour Superstore at WGV closed.
Not a big fan of Edwin Watts. Seems like a joke to be honest.

Did you get the stiffness and loft that matches your desired swing and trajectory?DRiccio21 wrote:ended up finding a deal on the titleist 913 d2 on pgatoursuperstore for 299, i called my local edwin watts and asked if they'd match... i went to the store just now and the guy rang it up for 249. usually a $400 club so i'll take it

For Dave I'd guess stiff, and 10* if I had to guess.dakshdar wrote:Did you get the stiffness and loft that matches your desired swing and trajectory?DRiccio21 wrote:ended up finding a deal on the titleist 913 d2 on pgatoursuperstore for 299, i called my local edwin watts and asked if they'd match... i went to the store just now and the guy rang it up for 249. usually a $400 club so i'll take it

Re: Golfers
yeah i used the simulator for about 30 minutes with some different clubs.dakshdar wrote:Did you get the stiffness and loft that matches your desired swing and trajectory?DRiccio21 wrote:ended up finding a deal on the titleist 913 d2 on pgatoursuperstore for 299, i called my local edwin watts and asked if they'd match... i went to the store just now and the guy rang it up for 249. usually a $400 club so i'll take it
my club speed was 98-102 just about every swing. i hit the first few like 250 then i don't know what i was doing but the next bunch all went back to my normal 205-210 range even tho the club speed was still 95+. i guess i just didn't make good contact and lost power cause of that.
i'm well aware that its probably just something i'm doing wrong with my swing and not the club, but i'm glad i made the upgrade.

Re: Golfers
Ive been thinking of tinkering with the loft on my driver, anyone else done this? I use an R11 and have always kept it at whatever the default 'settings' were, but seeing as Im getting a bit more loft on the drives Ive notives I get near zero run. Ill blast a drive, then see the ball settle only a couple feet from its divot. Should I try adjusting the loft from the 10* its at to 9.5? 9?

Re: Golfers
10 is usually standard for most player because it provides the most control. The lower you go, the lower ball flight (duh) and the longer your shots will likely go. You'll get more roll, but you'll have a lower trajectory. In theory, you'll lose a bit of control, but .5 or even 1.0 shouldn't show you too much of a difference if you hit it consistently to begin with. You won't want to go much below 9*. 9.5 is pretty standard for those that aren't sticking with defaults. It won't hurt anything to try itWeasel wrote:Ive been thinking of tinkering with the loft on my driver, anyone else done this? Re: Golfers
i played today after work. WOW what a difference.
i only avg'd 230 with the new driver but still 20 yards more than i was before. the lower loft made a huge difference for me. i hit 75% of my fairways, i usually struggle to get 50%.
best news? i shot an 89 (which is the best i've ever shot). i don't even feel like i played well, i'm just so bad typically off the tee box that having the ball in the fairway got me on GIR way more than i'm used to.
hopefully it wasn't a fluke. going to mexico for a few days but i'm already dying to hit the driver more

Re: Golfers
thanks, by like the 5th or 6th drive i just got up there with confidence and dipped and ripped. usually i stand over my ball for a while and overthink the swing. felt nice to feel like i had some margin for error.ReignOnU wrote:Congrats man... big breakthrough!
