I just do not see Mariotta panning out what so ever in the NFL.
Re: NFL Thread
yeah that's not gonna stop him from being a top 5 pick.packsyd2284 wrote:I just do not see Mariotta panning out what so ever in the NFL.

Re: NFL Thread
He's got the tools and the smarts.(33 on the Wonderlic gtfo) Give him a year or two behind a veteran qb and I think he'll develop into a good NFL qb.
Re: NFL Thread
I don't see it either. Nobody I know who watches football sees it. It's every fan saying no vs almost every football person saying yes. It'll be interesting to watch.packsyd2284 wrote:I just do not see Mariotta panning out what so ever in the NFL.

I dont think we know this yet.OracleHCR wrote:He's got the tools
To copy off of Lebby who mentoned this a few times, at Oregon, all we really see is Mariota throwing the ball 40 yards downfield to WRs who are open by 15 yards. Obviously i'm generalizing, but that is kinda how good the Oregon scheme is.
We haven't seen and don't really know if he has the ability to have that pinpoint, consistent accuracy and ability to throw covered WRs open which is essential to being a top level NFL QB.

It's all about the system he gets placed into.

He's very loose with the football and his biggest strength in college is that he was faster than 90% of the dudes on defense. That changes so much when you are in the league and I think he is far from a pure passer. I don't know I just don't have much stock in him. I would rather have the dude from Baylor from what I have seen so far.
Re: NFL Thread
The Oregon system definitely helped his numbers but he has a strong arm and can make the tough throws. At least he showed he could at the combine with nobody rushing him. He isn't a little guy and is fast. He needs time to learn a pro style offense but I personally believe he has the tools. Like you say though, we won't know until we see him under fire.
He is not a first year starter in any system.

If you're not allowed to speak on a player if you've ever whiffed on an evaluation, this board, and ESPN and their 734 mock drafts would be awfully quiet.nick wrote:didnt you say the QB Miami got was bad and now hes top 20 in odds to win heisman?packsyd2284 wrote:I just do not see Mariotta panning out what so ever in the NFL.

Yea I did. I coached against him plenty in HS and he was on a team loaded with talent and struggled in big games. I still have yet to see him do anything note worthy in college.nick wrote:didnt you say the QB Miami got was bad and now hes top 20 in odds to win heisman?packsyd2284 wrote:I just do not see Mariotta panning out what so ever in the NFL.

And what are you talking about with darkness, i have no idea, but you're the emo kid whining cause you're e-feelings are hurt every time you're challenged on something. Heck, your entire 1st post to me is hypocritical considering you did the same thing exact thing, that's what I quoted.
But then again, we know Nick says lots of things...not many of which tend to make sense or be very logical.
