Naturally, it involved a Mercedes, Escalade, and Bentley in WalMart parking lot

Before today, I was indifferent, lots of rumors, none substantiated by anyone trustworthy.
But hearing Schefter talk about chasing the story, and now this link, it doesn't look good, even if the link doesn't come right out and state he's on video dragging the woman.
There is one way out though...just appeal/stall long enough for Goodell to completely botch the investigation and let you off the hook. Worked for the Saints.

This is gonna sound really dumb coming from me but can they really punish him for something over 3 years ago? That seems a little absurd to me.

Absurd sounds about right for the NFL.
If it's new info to them, they probably can, because assuming there was a conversation about it then, and they took the police report from the time to be truth and nothing else, then this is new info and could be added.

When has Goodell ever followed any guideliens when punishing players?

It depends on the state and the crime.
I understand you saying why would the NFL care 3 years later, but say here in Ohio...
Sexual Assault, Rape, and some others, the statute of limitations is 20 years.

This wasn't any of those things.

Without seeing the video and only going by the descriptions I would guess that there's a lot of serious crimes that could be in play here; assault, attempted abduction, holding someone against their will, and since two other guys were involved, conspiracy to commit several crimes. I'd think the statute of limitations on felonies like those isn't a year or two.

That was my point peay.
Thanks for helping to clarify.
The few I listed were just examples.

I don't know much about it. I have heard assault and he may have dragged a female. I am wondering what the hold up is on getting this out and how is something this big reamain a secret for almost four years now?

I think the NFL got to the tape before deadspin etc... so they have the timeline and control over its release. Amazing what they can find when they put their minds to it... lol

Even if it was 3 years ago and it's found to be true he's going to be hung out to dry. Especially after the year the NFL had with the assaults on women/children. Had this happened 5 years ago and the tape surfaced 3 years ago, he might have just gotten a slap on the wrist by the NFL.

Salary saver for a system RB. He's a great player, but they can probably get similar results from a drafted or FA RB for way cheaper.
Strange part to me is that they couldn't get a little more for him

Kiko Alonso was really good til he got injured and McCoy is somewhat overrated imo... seemed like a solid trade for Philly to me.
but i don't claim to be a football expert. just thinking about value of positions and age and salary and stuff
