In April 2005, Centre County (Pa.) district attorney Ray Gricar, who decided not to bring child-assault charges against Jerry Sandusky after an incident with a young boy in 1998, disappeared without a trace in Pennsylvania and has never been heard from since. His car was found in Lewisburg, Pa., near the Susquehanna River, and his laptop computer was found in the river.

In May 1996, Gricar's brother Roy, who lived in southwest Ohio, disappeared not long after being fired from his job in Dayton. His body was found days later in the Great Miami River. His car was found parked near the Great Miami River, and authorities ruled his death a suicide.
My dad had heard this and told me about it. Even weirder is that I used to live 5 minutes from Lewisburg, and now live about 15 from the great miami river

Ya know. Take a step back. There are no facts. This isn't as slam dunk of a case as one might think. I am NOT saying it isn't likely he goes to prison as juries eat up witness testimony, but all the defense needs is one credible witness that corroborates Sandusky's story or one uncredible witness on the prosecution's side and we have a new ball game.

its a hell of a conspiracy if thats the case. 2 completely non-related people witnessed it, random kids that were part of his charity claimed to have been violated and he just said he showered with little boys in that interview.

i have no law background... give me 60 minutes to write up an opening and closing statement and i'll win this case.

Who said what?

Sandusky said that??? If so, there's no need to take any steps back Trendon.

yeah he said that in a non chalant way that a complete fuckin wack job would say it as if there was really nothing wrong with it. he also says something along the lines of 'i did some of the things they said'. he's gotta be either going insane, wacked out on pain killers or about to commit suicide to say shit like that in an interview with Bob Costas

mcqueary also supposedly said in an email to teammates that he 'didn't just turn and run' and that 'he made it stop'

interesting

I find it amazing that he gets 100K bail (which he posts, of course) for over 40 counts.

Then we find out that the judge who gave him bail used to be a volunteer at Second Mile.

I hope they disbar his ass.

Well, that is opportunity. They need to prove motive. Let's see what they got. It will be a unique case and I look forward to seeing if he goes to trial and, if so, with what legal team.

Sorry but I'm seriously doubting that his affiliation with the second mile had anything to do with his bail. Bail isn't set on the emotion of a situation, it is set on facts.

Wouldn't a volunteer especially want to see Sandusky put away? There is no conspiracy here.

his attorney was in the studio with Costas while he did the interview via phone.

it was beyond weird.

if they were playing the insanity card then they'd be angling towards that now... last night the attorney was flatly denying that he did anything wrong.

I watched this interview this morning before work. Very creepy and eerie. Guy sounds like a creep and when costs asked him if he was sexually attracted to little boys he had a very creepy response.

Per usual his lawyer seems to think they have the victim that McQueary witnessed saying the stuff Mike saw never happened. This is gonna be an interesting trial. I wanna hear Mcaquearys exact words on this.

whether by old age, suicide or someone getting knocked off... someone is dying before this case goes to trial.

Just relistened to the interview here on mike and mike and when he said he touched the little boys legs he somehwhat stuttered, possibly thinking he shouldn't have gone there.

I'm with Dave on someone dying. My guess is Paterno.

Keep in mind, the janitor in question has dementia, so that nearly nullifies 1 of the 2 eyewitnesses. If they have the unidentified kid and he says it didn't happen like McQ says, there goes #2. Also... and I haven't checked to see if this has been posted... I read on Audibles that the kid in question was actually 16 when this happened. Not that it makes it better, but 16 moves this from child rape to statutory rape. As for why he went out and said it, it's clear that he's going to cop to certain things and that he likely has a line of kids that would testify that he touched their legs, rubbed up against them or exposed himself in the shower, but maybe they think they can spin the showering as a normal process and they he didn't know the touching made them uncomfortable. From there, maybe he didn't make it any further with the others, so he dodges the child rape claim.

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked to see him walk with probation. I've seen too many high profile, 'slam dunk' cases get Mutombo'd.

Move over Sandusky and Fine...what the F is going on?!?!
Former Boston Red Sox Clubhouse Manager Molested Black Boys

In a case whose details parallel some of the allegations against Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky, the abuse went on for many years.

Boston Red Sox, Donald Fitzpatrick,molestation

In the wake of child molestation allegations against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, a similar story has emerged from the past as a testament to the pain that persists when adults prey on children. In both instances, Black boys were at the center of the narrative.

Nine years ago, former Boston Red Sox clubhouse manager Donald Fitzpatrick, was found guilty of molesting African-American boys over a period of decades, according to an article by Jeff Passan posted on the Yahoo! Sports website, ThePostGame.

Fitzpatrick’s behavior was apparently common knowledge among team members, and in one instance, players even warned the boys to stay away from the clubhouse manager. In 1971, when one of the victims reported Fitzpatrick to the team’s management, the Sox fired the boy and allowed Fitzpatrick to keep his position without taking any disciplinary action or contacting authorities.

In total, it is alleged that Fitzpatrick molested nearly a dozen African-American boys over the years and the managed to keep the secret hidden for decades.

One of Fitzpatrick’s victims, Leeronnie Ogletree, says that the events of his childhood have left an indelible mark on his psyche as an adult.

"I thought one time I wouldn't be able to deal with older white people," Ogletree, now 48, told ThePostGame. "If I see somebody who resembles him, a rage comes through me. I just have to leave the scene. That's something that can happen even right now."

Ogletree says that as a gate-keeper to the players and game he loved so much, Fitzpatrick was able to manipulate the young men into doing whatever he wished.

"If you're a kid, you fall in love with the game of baseball," Ogletree said. "There's one in a million chance of meeting a professional ballplayer, let alone working with them. If kids like something, and if you say you're going to take that away, they'll do anything to keep what's good to them. I know what happened to me at 10 years old."

The story of Fitzpatrick’s systematic abuse of the boys remained a secret until 1991, when one of his accusers attended a televised Sox-Angels game and held up a sign that said, “Don Fitzgerald sexually abused me” while sitting in the crowd. Following the incident, victims began coming forward, resulting Fitzpatrick’s 2002 conviction on four counts of sexual battery on a child after pleading guilty to the charges. The Red Sox also settled a $3.15 million lawsuit with seven victims in 2003.

Although the cases have all been settled, many are asking questions about the treatment of Black boys in light of both the Fitzpatrick scandal and now, the allegations against Sandusky.

"These kids came from impoverished backgrounds and many times, no father. Fitzpatrick used that to his advantage and preyed on these kids that were poor," Benjamin Crump, the lawyer who handled Ogletree’s case against Fitzpatrick and the Boston Red Sox told the Huffington Post. "The one thing that I do think is not similar to the Penn State situation is that with the Boston Red Sox case, they had 11 kids and they were all black, almost as if they wouldn't let this happen to little white boys."
