After 2-3 seasons where i badly neglected my draft class, it's starting to show in the pros. I dont understand how some people dont spend more time researching and drafting.. Probably most important thing in this game.

WF continuing to muck up draft position. Now best non-playoff team in the AL with a 21-4 September record.

SS Walton Burgess absolutely smashing the fielding ZR record with a ZR of +36.3

I feel like Juan Jose Valentin and Andy Wilkins will be trying to one up each other for the best SS in the league title for the next 5-10 years.
Rich Booth in the backseat looking to have his name mentioned as well.
All 25ish years old too.
Booth will surpass them both as the better all around player. Valentin is the better fielder though.
Quite the statement. He has proven to be the “worst” of the 3 thus far.
Catch up Booth
Not this year he isn't the "worst" of the 3.
just pulled up SS only and looked at the leaderboard. Damn, they are all pretty much interchangeable. I'd still take Booth just cuz he is damn near a whole year younger than the other two.

This was Booth's breakout year to introduce himself to everyone. Get used to these numbers he's putting up

Big differentiator I see.
Booth and JJV are locked up long term.
Wilkins may never see a contract from Prosper at this rate.

Fun advanced SS defensive stats.
Play type with the % of time they should be successful:
Ro = routine plays (90-100%)
L = likely plays (60-90%)
E = Even plays (40-60%)
U = Unlikely plays (10-40%)
Re = remote plays (1-10%)
Players with number of plays available and their success rates.
Code: Select all
Ro L E U Re
Burgess 300 49 43 28 27
308 62 71 69 77
97% 79% 61% 41% 35%
Wilkins 269 33 25 20 10
289 64 74 59 72
93% 52% 34% 34% 14%
Booth 287 32 25 15 11
311 74 55 63 58
92% 43% 45% 24% 19%
Valentin 305 41 48 30 24
317 65 87 84 65
96% 63% 55% 36% 37%
So Burgess stomps on Wilkins and Booth but Valentin is a close match.
I think Valentin is easily the best SS in the league, and WAR agrees. Other than CF, where Spann dominates (what the hell was up with his trade from Omaha to Alabama??), Valentin has the most separation between the second best player at a position.

This is awesome ty! Valentin also has wheels to add to his WAR total and he's a good hitter (120 wrC+ I think). Seeing his WAR that high still feels weird though. I remember I almost traded him to Blanco. Can you imagine......
Also Spann is straight up legit. SMH George....

Prosper hits the road for the final 12 games of the season.
Screw the scheduling gods on that one, sheesh.
Slim chance we come back from 1.5GB and we have had an ugly last month of the season.
The window of this uber talented team is very slowly closing if we dont win shit soon and a sell off may be imminent.
This you?

I traded Spann to get a pitcher and get rid of a horrible contract. With Krieger it wasn't that much of a hit for me. It enabled me to sign long term contracts for Krieger, Fernandez and Wilkins. And I had enough money to sign Booth to a long term contract as well. If we can win it this year the trade was worth it, should have won last year but OOTP will OOTP you come playoffs

I was interested in look at the total balls the fielder was able to reach as well,
Burgess- 3.29 TB's per 9 inning
Valentine- 3.07 TB's per 9
So about 6.7% difference there
I think the biggest difference though is the remote plays
Burgess was able to get to 4 more balls while playing 100 less innings for
Valentin- .164 remote plays made per 9 innings
Burgess- .199 replote plays made per 9 innings
So he got to about 21% more remote plays per 9 innings that Valentine
That said Valentine is much superior offensively to more than make up for the slight defensive advantage.
It is crazy though, Burgess is probably the greatest ever defensive player we've ever seen, my scout has him at 108 infield range which is ridiculous
