Time to get to my favorite part of the NBA season as a Pels fan...the offseason!!!
Next season probably won't start til March or so unfortunately.

I never understood why not try to extend each possession by fouling. 1 minute left in the game and down by 7 and no fouling. In the 90s and earlier they would have tried to extend the game with 2+ minutes left. Really don't understand with how good teams shoot the 3 now

Simple math... I'll explain in basic form...
2020 League 2pt FG% was 45.9%
2020 League 3pt FG% was 35.7%
2020 League FT% was 77.3%
Each possession you have X% chance of getting Y points. In the case of FTs, it's likely to be x2 because you get 2 shots in the bonus.
2pt FG gets .92 points per possession
3pt FG gets 1.07 points per possession
2 FT attempts gets 1.55 points per possession
The only real advantage to stopping the clock is fouling.
There's a far more complex things to include here, such as removing the chance for a steal/block; Factoring offensive/defensive rebounding rates; If you're wearing clutch jeans ... the usual.

...it's 51.6% to produce a similar return on 3s... if you're wondering.

Not all FT attempts are created equal though (Curry > Howard). If you have the opportunity to foul a guy with a 60% FT percentage then I would think a foul is warranted to try and extend the game.

60% is 1.2 points per possession... so your breakeven on 3s is 40%. Still quite an uphill battle considering that they aren't likely to leave a bum FT shooter in there and they are more likely to be pressing out on the perimeter.
You can get into a rabbit hole with some of this, but there could be an argument that if you're down 7 with a min to go and you want to with the quick foul strat to get more possessions... you may get better results with fast slashes to the hoop. If the defense is protecting the 3pt line, the FG % in the paint may be rewarding enough. (could all be bullshit though... I've never looked at FG % variation by game time)

That was probably the game of the season.
Also, I'm not sure I've ever seen someone so scared to have the ball in his hands than when the Morris twin got the ball with 6 seconds left. You could tell the moment he got it he was going to do something stupid. I thought he was going to take a bad shot way too early.

Proud of the fellas for keeping on the fight.
Been a special season regardless of the weirdness of it all, this team is awesome.

If Bam was 100% all series, I think it's 3-2 Heat and they'd close it out.
They aren't out of this yet though... need Bam in there and Herro/Duncan hitting those perimeter shots. The Heat were the 2nd most efficient 3pt shooting team in the regular season. They could pop off for 40%+ on back to back games and steal this.

I’ll never blame the injuries of the “what if” or as an excuse but feel a full strength squad and it feels like an amazing 7 game like series.

Bam missed games and is obviously not close to 100%, and they've essentially played the entire series without their leading playoff scorer in Dragic.
They could very easily and maybe likely be up 3-2 has the injury bug not hit them in game 1 .

Bill Simmons has been saying they basically realize they will lose a ton of money next year and fans are a pipe dream so they are talking about getting it going as soon as possible in order to have a normal 2021 season. I'm all for it as I want my hoops but I am really curious to see how the salary cap will be impacted by all this
