is sheltown would just draft and stop signing bums to bad contracts, we'd have 5 elite teams.

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
I drafted a dude #4 overall a couple of seasons ago, got some props in the draft channel in Slack for the pick.
Less than 1 year later the dude was not in the top 500 prospects and has a 41 potential. Not sure drafting is my ticket out.

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
Best division with less teams making the playoffs than the AL Central
Best division with only 1 team posting a 90 win season (c'mon AJ, you better do it!)
Best division when not one team will have a +90 run differential. Pretty sure the Beef/Hollywood/Seattle/WF/Moose Jaw had that prior to the All Star break.
Hell, Burnaby could win that division.
Pretty sure the AL (L)east is only fun to watch right now because it's just a bunch of B level teams with AJ getting ready to take over for a while.

Figured that would have been Nicks way of reading it. Guess that Louisiana education didn't help

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
George talking a lot about the best division in baseball while he sits 13.5 games back of first in the AL Central

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
Also,
Looks like Bilel is on pace to win his 6th MVP award, his first since 2082.
Very possible he could opt out after this season too, wouldn't be surprised

When the season is over, we will have another 100 win season. Probably won't be more than 5 this year.
The Beef have averaged 100 wins the last 5 seasons. Pretty sure I can call our division the best. Congrats on winning your first AL Central title! It's a long fall from the top

I'd still take Fernandez over him in the MVP race. But we all know it goes by WAR and he'll get his 6th after the season is over

100 wins is average?!? There will be 5 this season with an outside chance at 6 if Seattle gets 5 wins.qazhby wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 3:53 pm100 wins is average now tbhGeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 3:44 pmWhen the season is over, we will have another 100 win season. Last year there were 4
The year before there were 3
I'd say 90-95 wins is average for a playoff team

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
We (the league) had a long debate/conversation about winning teams etc etc
This year has really shown me that winning breeds winning and player improvement. no question about it.
Not sure if we will hang on, but even if we don't, its been a good year. We got hot at the beginning and it has snowballed. Not as much as the big teams in the league but significant for us.
thats where team budget comes into play. If you dont have money you better hit a home run with all your decisions

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
even more to my point, many teams don't have to worry about it.

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
It's because we are lax about it. No owner in real life would allow a GM to take his team to almost MINUS 100M dollars. Just wouldn't happen.
Especially with no results.....George would have been fired a long time ago IRL lol.

Re: 2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood
to be fair. In real life, a team that has been 1 win away from the WS a couple of times the past 4 years would be able to charge more than $28 a ticket.

Bro preach! That's what mine is at this year and that's the highest ever I've been able to sustain.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:12 pmto be fair. In real life, a team that has been 1 win away from the WS a couple of times the past 4 years would be able to charge more than $28 a ticket.
