Easy Tiger, Arrieta faces the Brewers on the road this week. If he throws another shut out and strikes out 9.........he's still right there.

NL Central becomes first ever division with top three MLB records
I have no problem with a 1 game wildcard game to get to the divisional round, but why no re-seed the 5 teams based on record and then go accordingly

I agree and don't understand why they can't reseed. The fact that two central teams are gonna play is stupid.

The Pirates played the Reds in the wildcard game two seasons ago, so it's not the first time it's happened. Although both teams weren't better than the rest of the league.

I'm not talking about the WC, I'm talking about the NLDS. Winner of tonight's game plays the cards. So the teams that will have the two best records in the NL play after tonight, it makes ZERO sense.

The Pirates then went on to play the Cards two seasons ago. Not like it hasn't happened before. And it's definitely not the first time teams with the best records have played each other in the divisional series. Yeah it doesn't make sense, but I'm not sure why all the shock...

Did the Pirates and Cardinals have the best record in the NL at the time? I don't think being divisional teams matter in this discussion, it's that the 3 best teams will have to play each other (1 game playoff and then NLDS). The 3 top teams shouldn't get penalized for being in the same division. Go do it like the NBA, top X of teams makes playoffs (last 2 play a play in game) and seed accordingly

... while you're at it, stop the play-in game non-sense. Here.. and in the NCAA tournament.

I'm with you. 1 game playoff to be the wild card? 162 games isn't enough?

I already answered your question in a previous post.
And the NBA does, or used to at least, reward their divisional winners with the highest seeding. This was why Doc Rivers was complaining about having to play San Antonio in the first round, where if it went by record, they wouldn't be playing. So doing it like the NBA would not help here.

No one here is shocked, I am just more annoyed than anything. The Cubs match up well with the Mets and I live in LA so I would rather play those two if the Cubs win tonight than the Cardinals.
