Re: NFL Thread
That's not the point. But if they stand up and give up they never get a chance at all. Regardless if how that chance ends up. Again if its a two score lead then yeah let em kneel and get it over but Maryone td? Crazier things have happened than TB falling on a fumble and then tossing a hail Mary

So trying to win=not having a brain. Got it.DRiccio21 wrote:they don't have to do nothing, they are more than welcome to do that shit if thats what they choose.shel311 wrote:mbyrd75 wrote:So if eli had fumbled the snap and TB was all standing around they'd be applauded for following those unwritten rules?
According to aj, nope Tampa has to stand around and do nothing.
just expect in week 3 when for a dude from another team to goes after you on a pointless play and blows out your knee.
its a profession, these guys are playing to support their lives. the play was pointless, 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance the end result is a kneel and they lose. about a 2 or 3% chance one of the olineman gets his knee twisted/torn/blown out with that type of shoot for the knees style of play.
its just not what you do. fuck unwritten rules, its just about having a brain.
When that dude in week 3 "goes after you" and blows out your knee, that's dirty if he's looking to take out your knee. Tampa Bay wasn't trying to take anyone out, they were trying to force a play to, ya know, maybe miraculously tie up the ball game.
ALso, as for your 99.99999999% chance that they lose but 2% chance someone gets hurt...what about down 5 with 2 seconds left in the game at your own 10 yard line, hail mary time. 99.9999999% chance you lose, 2% someone blows an ACL or falls and injures themselves on the hail mary. Should the offense not attempt the pass? IF not, why not? Same logic applies. Sure you have a "better" shot at catching the 90 yard hail mary, but where do you draw the line on your percentages? I've never seen a 90 yard hail mary in the NFL to win a game, so therefore teams shouldn't even try for it, risk/reward.
Re: NFL Thread
there is an equal chance for a guy to blow out his knee on a hailmary as there is on a play where 11 guys are shooting for your knee?
edit: i just read what you wrote... Tampa wasn't trying to take anyone out? did you watch the play? every guy shot low near the ankles/knees to get to the ball and undercut the lineman.

Re: NFL Thread
Why is the chance so much higher? Oh that's right, because the offense isn't trying. If NYG were ready and trying, your 2% is wash.DRiccio21 wrote:there is an equal chance for a guy to blow out his knee on a hailmary as there is on a play where 11 guys are shooting for your knee?
Again, that's not tampa bay's fault, which circles back to my point altogether. You're saying tampa Bay has to basically do whatever NYG does. If NYG doesn't come ready to play, TB can't either. IF NYG does, then it's a go for Tampa bay? That's ridiculous.
Also, you're sidestepping the question. Where do you draw the line?
Re: NFL Thread
i'm not sidestepping anything. i'm just wasting my time with this. there is no right answer, you're not going to stop and what you're arguing is ridiculous.shel311 wrote:Why is the chance so much higher? you draw the line when the outcome is so far in doubt that the risk you have to injure yourself or your opponent overweighs the realistic chance of making a play.
why don't guys closeline guys going in for layups if they can't get there in time for the block? you know, trying to win the game, just doing what it takes. there is some level of professionalism that is assumed when you're livelihood depends on the check you get.
as for your hailmary comparison... when you have the ball its far different. any shot is worth taking if you control the ball. if you don't have the ball, nor timeouts, you end the game. you don't shoot at defenseless guys knees. no matter if they were playing it out or not, nobody is defending against 11 guys shooting at your knee

Re: NFL Thread
I think your argument is equally ridiculous so yea.
As for as drawing the line, sounds like a hail Mary from the 10 fits that so far out of reach thing.
You don't closeline guys because that's illegal and will get you kicked out of a game. No clue how that fits into this discussion lol.
And yet again its NYG's fault they were defenseless, not tampa's.
I still think it's hilarious if what Antonio Pierce said was true.

Re: NFL Thread
If it was so bush league why would every single Tampa defender still do it? Everything is fucking turning soft with the media right at the center of this whole mess

Re: NFL Thread
It was victory formation. The game is over really. Although perfectly legal, I tend to think it was bush league. Preach all that the game isnt over until its over, but Im sure there are some unwritten rules in the NDL. If thats the case why would Eli just line up say hike and sprint 5yds back and kneel the football. I just dont agree with it. To each his own...

That the giants defenses he played on under Coughlin did the same thing multiple times.

What's the point of even answering your next question when your response will be to just say I mean the complete opposite of what I say to make it seem like you're right?ajalves wrote:shel311 wrote:I think your argument is equally ridiculous so yea.

I've watched every Giants game for the last 15 years. I've never seen them do that during a kneel down.shel311 wrote:Seeitsaveit13 wrote:What/d he say?shel311 wrote:

There's a 0% chance you've watched every game until the final whistle. Lock of the centurydakshdar wrote:I've watched every Giants game for the last 15 years. I've never seen them do that during a kneel down.shel311 wrote:Seeitsaveit13 wrote:What/d he say?shel311 wrote:
