First thoughts on this draft class is it looks normal. A handful of blues and a lot of greens which seems about right.

I also really like how some of these guys overalls are already advanced past 20. It seems crazy really that every single player gets drafted as the same 20 in relation to their development so that seems to be a cool thing.

Draft sure looks better than the last one, but based on the changes we made and my expectations, I'm very disappointed.

There's only 1 dude in the entire draft that I'd feel good about getting with the #2 overall pick.

TIL when looking at the draft pool grid, you can drag columns around to put them in the order you want.
Makes it real nice when I write the report to disk and input it into my excel spreadsheeet for vlookup to keep track of who was drafted and when.

That beats the crap out of normal, unless all those blues are closers. I've seen 1 blue bat in the last 5 drafts.


Edit: Just looked for myself. 1 blue bat, 1 blue reliever. I'm not surprised, though. The way 21 generates classes, i figured this one would suck and it would start picking up over the next 2 or 3.

This draft is much improved from what we have had. I am not sure how many blues guys think there should be but if you see more than 6-8 blue guys (excluding relievers) that is probably too much as there are not that many blue chippers each draft. It was the fact last draft had zero green hitters and was worst for this one prior to change that was concerning.

I am not complaining about the draft, sorry if that is what guys thought.
If it pans out, there is 1 round of future starters and then 1 round of average MLB guys and then the rest are diamonds in the rough.
So it is probably pretty close to real life thinking of it that way.

In reality, teams will draft 1 clear cut starter for their team's future and then 1 average MLBer (50'ish rated OOTP) and then the rest are through development and such.

I do like that so far, ootp21 has cleaned up the drastic differences from scout to scout. Scouts will still see guys a little differently, but I have not seen anyone where 1 scout has a guy with 65 HR power and another sees him with 3.
