2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
Terry Martinez is worse. Traded him as a 20/52 my scout and I believe 20/61 OSA. Was a throw in for Corey. 2 short years later he is built like a top 5 hitter. I have no choice but to hate Martinez, at least I knew Todd would be awesome.

No Washington and Morrow?!
Those should be 100% guaranteed 1st ballot guys but that why is we all have a vote if you will.

Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
Bryan Stuff/movement/control potential at time of trade and now: 104/70/60 vs 112/74/87
Shawn Powell Stuff/movement/control potential at time of trade and now: 73/98/114 vs 62/86/88...most notable, stamina was 52, now it's 25. Maybe my scout is just dyslexic
With today's sim, Powell is officially projected as a bullpen arm.

You got quite a haul in that trade and even then you balked on Todd.wdoupis wrote: at least I knew Todd would be awesome.

yeah, think how I feel. I had to throw him in for the Rodriguez deal(a cash dump) then he goes to Boston and now he looks amazing.

Sheltown won 88 games last season. So far at -21.4 in WAR lost. Projected to win 93 games this season. I'll take it!!!

Though I have no idea who "Rodriguez" is
Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
It was a fair trade and who knew Lee would be worthless. I just meant I knew he would be good, I don't think either of us expected Martinez to become this. Hell, I got Martinez just for taking on Ramon Rodriguez 9 mil per year deal
Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
Hopefully Hoffman will be my first HOF, 3 years younger than Acosta with only about 10 less WAR. Also has a MVP award
Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
I drafted Bryan originally, but couldn't afford his 7 mil signing demand....ultimately he would have still ended up in Boston. Crazy how these things work out

I was talking to Shel about Martinez the other day as well.wdoupis wrote:It was a fair trade and who knew Lee would be worthless. He is "only" all greens by my scout and a 72. He is good but he was also high 60s when I traded for him.
With these scout variances I started making a lot more deals based on OSA than even my own scout lately as it is too wild.
Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
scout variance is all over the place. the problem I have now is outside of Boston, Houston, LA, and OCD I don't have a single prospect on my radar that is blue...
hell, the only blue guys I have are Lindsey, alberto hernandez and fucking cusack... according to my scout.

I don't pay much attention to the the ratings during this time of the year. Seems like a ton of guys drop in potential right before spring training the last few seasons. They build right back up afterwards though.

They usually get those huge jumps in January and then a big crash in March.Wasted Memory wrote:I don't pay much attention to the the ratings during this time of the year. Seems like a ton of guys drop in potential right before spring training the last few seasons.
I've seen it with some of mine but I am glad other scouts are enjoying my prospects more than my scout has them.

Dang, I probably just have a happy go lucky Jon Gruden type scout who loves everyone.Uuaww wrote:scout variance is all over the place. the problem I have now is outside of Boston, Houston, LA, and OCD I don't have a single prospect on my radar that is blue...

My scout shows 130 players between AAA down to R ball. Coincidentally, OSA shows 130 as well.
4 per team average.

I know the majority of us like the number system, but I wonder what type of impact the star system would have on our overall variances.

I don't think either of those guys are 1st balloters. I mean they are great and could get it but it all depends on who is in the class the year they are eligible.Cnasty wrote:No Washington and Morrow?!

Re: 2048 Season Thread: White Men Can Jump??!
I don't mess with it much, but I'll do my own franchise with each new version of OOTP that comes out. I've tried the stars in the past, and I just can't get into it.Wasted Memory wrote:I know the majority of us like the number system, but I wonder what type of impact the star system would have on our overall variances.
It's really just that we're so used to it like it is. I'm guessing if we had done the stars since 2010, I'd think going to the numbers was weird and couldn't do it nowadays.
But it would definitely create more variance, much more IMO.
