Buckner and Bartman can finally die peacefully.
The way this dude was treated, how Dusty Baker and Moises Alou blamed him, and how the Cubs imploded and Alex Gonzalez got a free pass is just one of those amazing baseball stories.

The Chicago newspapers released the man's address for crying out loud!

Baker single handedly killed Mark Prior and Kerry Wood and their careers let alone in that series. No idea how the guy keeps getting manager jobs.

Bartman could have made a huge payday on this and it seems he avoided every opportunity to do so.

Here is his statement:
“Although I do not consider myself worthy of such an honor, I am deeply moved and sincerely grateful to receive an official Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship ring. I am fully aware of the historical significance and appreciate the symbolism the ring represents on multiple levels. My family and I will cherish it for generations. Most meaningful is the genuine outreach from the Ricketts family, on behalf of the Cubs organization and fans, signifying to me that I am welcomed back into the Cubs family and have their support going forward. I am relieved and hopeful that the saga of the 2003 foul ball incident surrounding my family and me is finally over.
I humbly receive the ring not only as a symbol of one of the most historic achievements in sports, but as an important reminder for how we should treat each other in today’s society. My hope is that we all can learn from my experience to view sports as entertainment and prevent harsh scapegoating, and to challenge the media and opportunistic profiteers to conduct business ethically by respecting personal privacy rights and not exploit any individual to advance their own self-interest or economic gain.
Moreover, I am hopeful this ring gesture will be the start of an important healing and reconciliation process for all involved. To that end, I request the media please respect my privacy, and the privacy of my family. I will not participate in interviews or further public statements at this time.
Words alone cannot express my heartfelt thanks to the Ricketts family, Crane Kenney, Theo Epstein, and the entire Cubs organization for this extraordinary gift, and for providing the City of Chicago and Cubs fans everywhere an unforgettable World Championship in 2016. I am happy to be reunited with the Cubs family and positively moving forward with my life.”

Also, I thought it was still a HR when I saw it but ya know, baseball and its weird rules:
Apparently it's an out, but all players advance one base, because baseball rules weren't confusing enough.
Rule 7.04(c) Comment: If a fielder, after having made a legal catch, should fall into a stand or among spectators or into the dugout or any other out-of-play area while in possession of the ball after making a legal catch, or fall while in the dugout after making a legal catch, the ball is dead and each runner shall advance one base, without liability to be put out, from his last legally touched base at the time the fielder fell into, or in, such out-of-play area.

I'm impressed.

The rule should be that it's a homerun IMO.

why would that be a HR? he caught the ball. If you catch a diving ball down say 3rd baseline and go into the stands.. is it foul?

The ball went over the fence, a ball that goes over the fence is a homerun, that's why it should be a homerun.

The rule makes perfect sense to me. He caught the ball which should be an out regardless if it was in the stands/over the wall. Runners are naturally gonna tag up and should only be allowed to go one base as that dude prob layed there for a second as it hurt like hell naturally. Just my opinion.

There is also a rule regarding what he does with the ball after the catch. If he throws it while still out of play vs. coming back in play first.

Not an individual player decision, it's technically uniform for all players (within a given time period at least). It's not like 1 player has a juiced ball and the rest don't

IMO at least

Amazing catch!

This is one of the rules I hate. The ball is out of play after he landed out of the playing field. Should be a HR.

I look at it like a catch in football.

But the play by Jeter he was clearly out of play when he cought the ball, but it was still an out

Looks like Harper hyper extended his knee on first base legging out a single or whatever

For the longest time I have wondered, might have said it here too I cant remember, why is the base so tall? First base I mean. IMO it should be half as tall or even a double base like some softball leagues do

What does half as tall do as it still provides opportunity to trip or extend no?

A flat one may provide slippage.
