if they removed everyone associated with it, i'd have no problem continuing to support the school.

i don't think this is reflective of a university at all as much as it is representative of a horrible culture of athletics/image first over the safety of people. that stops by removing everyone and inserting new people.

This seems to be getting deeper at deeper... I'm going to let my emotional side run free for a second... if Paterno knew something, then most certainly Bradley knows. Jay knows. At least 1 VP knew (since gone) and he is apparently associated with at least 1 of the BoT members who likely knows. Rumors of rumblings that a lot of former players have made previous comments about Sandusky being suspicious. High potential that the UPD was told to shut it down. Shutting down the football program doesn't solve anything. Firing everyone related to the football program doesn't solve everything. So many hands are potentially in this jar.
you fire every person in the staff. you fire all the admins at the school.

at that point you basically have a new university. old boosters who had power under Joe Pa will be less likely to roam free and wreckless.

i don't think by being a part of Penn St University you become a bad person, just my opinion. i could certainly understand why people would just give up all together. i'm just cut from the cloth of being loyal beyond all assuming they are trying to do the right thing. i would never stop supporting UConn unless they turned a blind eye to this and didn't fire everyone. then i would have no other choice. but if you fire everyone and start over its just supporting the school and not people.
Good insight Dave, thanks. You have a degree from UConn right? And are a money donating alum?

My background with PSU is pretty simple... got hooked into college football by watching 1 school, I live in SW Ohio but never liked Ohio St. or Michigan. I found out my grandfather played at Penn State and decided that I'd try to follow them more closely. Obviously as the internet/cable advanced, this became easier to follow them from a distance. I have never been to a game, never donated money. Only purchased / wore merchandise. I did plan to finish my 4yr degree through their World Campus, partially due to being a huge fan and partially due to the added value that I perceived having a degree from PSU to have. Surely I had a love for the school, but potentially not the kind of commitment you have to UConn.

Not sure if valid or if it applies here... but this might be why McQueary hasn't been fired:

"The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 is a United States federal law that protects federal whistleblowers who work for the government and report agency misconduct. A federal agency violates the Whistleblower Protection Act if agency authorities take (or threaten to take) retaliatory personnel action against any employee or applicant because of disclosure of information by that employee or applicant. Whistleblowers may file complaints that they believe reasonably evidences a violation of a law, rule or regulation; gross mismanagement; gross waste of funds; an abuse of authority; or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety."

I thought so, but the BoT was very specific that they fired Joe "because it was in the best interest of the university." Or maybe there is another answer, like they consider McQ to be the whistleblower and Joe is just a higher up, not necessarily a whistleblower. Interesting though, just saw some talk about it and thought it could be a valid situation.

Nice. This is going to be the greatest college football spectacle of all-time. Nebraska has the whole fucking world rooting for them; they better not lose.

The Marching Red should play Gary Glitter songs the whole way through halftime.

It'd be riots in the background instead of the normal signs and fans.

I'm not sure they should be known as "Happy Valley" anymore

And I hope the PSU students destroy the WBC loons.

I honestly don't know how they think they'll be able to stage a game there this weekend.
