Has he failed or has he maximized how far he can get these Rockets teams in the postseason?

I'll go with both over the course of his career. I think early on he had some success getting a little more out of teams than others expected. But it's as if he got very comfortable with that and never adapted. I feel like over the last few years with this Houston club, they should have been much better and other coaches would have worked a better system with the talent they've had.

I know they moved Capela because of financial reasons, but when they pulled that trigger, and formed a roster where the biggest guy in the rotation is about 6'8, 230, that was like throwing in the towel. They looked at the Lakers and other teams and the west and basically said "well, we can't beat you straight up, so let's throw some illogical bullshit at the wall."

Chriss looked good against Siakam and Ibaka. Those are 2 strong athletic players and he held his own. Straight from the 80s Eric Paschall is something else... I'm not sure what that something else is though. Also, I'm fairly certain he's a fan of Cream Biggums.

More impressed than Shaq and Lebron? Shaq took player of the week in his debut. Averaged something like 25pts 15 reb and 4 blocks that week. 1st season was like 23, 13 and 3.5 for averages. Guy was unbelievable. Lebron's first month or so wasn't on par with Zion's, but his first season was strong, 20, 5 reb, 5 assists and the focal point of a trash team.

Zion to Shaq is a great comparison right now based on their games coming in as rookies.

Shaq was clearly more of a force on defense to Zion's poor defense.

But Zion would get the nod on the offensive side. Shaq averaged 23 on 56% shooting. Zion is at 24 on 58% shooting, but it's even more impressive comparably when you consider Shaq was at 37.8 minutes per game to Zion's 29.5.

On a per 36 basis, Zion is 29 and 8 to Shaq's 23 and 13.

I wouldn't give Zion on the offensive side. And this isn't me hating on him either. There are no true big guys to guard him right now. Shaq had big guys on every team he had to face.

Yep, Steven Adams did a bang up job when Zion played against him. Hint, that's a joke, Zion threw around the dude that some say is the strongest player in the game like he was just any other dude.

I'd give the edge to Shaq as well, but the logic that there are no true big guys to guard him is silly.

#1 - The difference in the top 20 players in blocks between now and 92-93 is minimal. In fact, if I averaged out the height, today's may be taller.
#2 - Shaq came into an elite era of guys like Ewing, Olajuwon, Mutumbo and Robinson, but he also got to enjoy the likes of Oliver Miller, Jon Koncak, Mark West and Benoit Benjamin. The center pool today doesn't have 4 elite guys, but it does have far more depth when it comes to shot blocking ability.
#3 - I'm sure part of your next argument is the style of play. Yes it's more spread out now and yes there are less traditional 4s like Malone, Kemp, etc. But there are also a lot more 6'7-6'10 wings and the again, the overall athleticism of all positions is much higher.

So in closing, stop hating.
