hes awesome but yea I think its a uconn connection.packsyd2284 wrote:I rather see the Giants as I hate the Dodgers and I wanna see KC and Toronto play because they seem to have some bad blood.DRiccio21 wrote:not sure if its been posted here but i think i read that the Blue Jays are the favorites in Vegas now to win the World Series.
could be wrong, but pretty sure i read that.
Cubs/Mets/Dodgers (any combo of those 3... sick of the Cardinals) and KC/Toronto (i'd love to see Springer and the Astros but they aren't ready yet) would be an awesome postseason
My cubbies are solid just worried that they are gonna play in the one game wild card and anything can happen there. I think the Mets have a real shot as their top three SP are horses and the Nats IMO are dead.
Why Springer Dave? Did he go to UCONN?

Re: 2015 MLB Thread
yeah, he went to UConn.
right now UConn has:
Nick Ahmed, SS, D'Backs
Matt Barnes, RP, Red Sox
Scott Oberg, RP, Rockies
George Springer, OF, Astros
Mike Olt, AAA, Cubs
John Andreoli, AAA, Cubs
Greg Nappo, AAA, Marlins
then a bunch of younger dudes in lower levels
i'm fairly certain all of them were on the same team in college. the team was insanely good and hosted a regional but they lost to Oregon.
also, Pete Walker (pitching coach for Blue Jays) is from UConn

Re: 2015 MLB Thread
Bryce Harper went 0 for 4 last night with 4 walks and 4 runs scored. Only the 4th time in history that's happened. He also didn't swing at a single pitch.
Reading that, I came across a ridiculous Barry Bonds stat. There are 415 pitchers against whom he went hitless (0 for 739 overall), yet he still posted a .331 OBP(higher than leage average) against those pitchers.

watching Bonds back in max juiced up days when i was in college is some of the most impressive shit i've seen in sports.
it was like watching the big kid in the little league world series who you expect to hit a bomb every ab except he was doing it against world class talent

Re: 2015 MLB Thread
Feels like once per month or once every 2 months, I go down the Baseball Reference wormhole, and end up on Barry Bonds's page. I can just sit and stare at his 2000s numbers, it doesn't even register, to be honest. OBP of over .600, what? That's just not possible.
Re: 2015 MLB Thread
now that we are all much more knowledgable about how to look and interpret baseball stats than we probably were 10-15 years ago, go look thru his stats. they are fucking ABSURD. he wouldn't have made the OOTP hall of fame cause people would have GUARANTEED he was messed with by Bear
my favorite stat of his, he had a .609 OBP in 2004. at age 39!!!

Of all the absurd numbers he put up over that stretch, that's the one we both went with.DRiccio21 wrote:woah, thats strange.shel311 wrote:Feels like once per month or once every 2 months, I go down the Baseball Reference wormhole, and end up on Barry Bonds's page. At first, I thought you meant me looking at Bonds's stats once in a while was strange.
