Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
There is actually a setting under Financials for you to basically have the budget of your previous year's total revenue. I'm on the fence whether it's good or not. Owners simulate real life better but knowing that having a good team (and continuing to have a good team) can perpetuate a solid budget for years is nice to rely on.shel311 wrote:My confusion on this is, for like years and years now, I thought we completely took the owner out of the game, so to speak. And all the financials are based solely on the numbers from the previous seasons?ajalves wrote:yeah....my main bullet point is that while I enjoy the randomness of '17, having an inkling of a possible sale would have been nice. Kind of like a "..rumors about a possible sale...." type thing
Meaning, I was always under the impression that budgets are set based on the numbers only, having nothing to do with owners.
Is that not correct?

Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
I don't think it's a good idea at this point. Not sure how teams that royally struggle and bring in 10k fans a game ever get out of the vice of a shit budget. We already have a pretty big separation between the top teams and bottom teams. Boston was supposed to struggle but got a 50 mil budget increase. My revenue last season was 107 mil, budget is 108. Maybe its a coincidence, but I'd like know other teams revenue compared to following years budget before we change anything. Top 3 teams in revenue, Wash AL and WF....top 3 budgets Wash AL and WF. Goes all the way through top 8 teams. PO had 148 revenue, says on website his budget is 150. Where's the issue?shel311 wrote:TheGobOne is making a push to be our next commish!!!

Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
I've tried to have this discussion and asked how budgets are derived 3+ times, but no one ever responds. Woe is me!! But seriously, I've hinted at that all along, that budgets are "only"(probably mostly) tied to revenues. Feels like it should trend more towards net profits after a season, but I feel like it does not do this at all. I can have $100mil in revenues with a nice net profit or $200 mil in revenues and lose a ton of money, and it feels like my next season's budget will fare better with the latter.dusters06 wrote:Top 3 teams in revenue, Wash AL and WF....top 3 budgets Wash AL and WF. Fwiw, I won 58 games in 2040 and 64 in 2041. It's not THAT hard to build a team back up to be respectable. Now building them up to a title...don't ask me!!!
Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
I'm not arguing that. Truthfully i wrote the first half of my message before looking up revenue vs budget. It's nearly spot on from top to bottom. Indy had 69 mil revenue, has 70 mil budget. The only differences are at the top. Ted had like 223 mil revenue and i think we should all be happy he doesn't have a 225 mil budget.shel311 wrote:I've tried to have this discussion and asked how budgets are derived 3+ times, but no one ever responds. dont touch finances. im almost positive theyre fucked and reign put a lot of effort into fixing them.
if u let owners reward teams for winning, it'll get bornig quick for bad teams. i was in a MLB league where Philly had a 300 million+ budget from winning a few yrs. Imagine 100+ wins for 20ish liek Cincy? his payroll would probably be 500+ million. fun.

This. I thought during Reign's time, he took the owner aspect out of it for the reasons Nick said above, and it was purely based on the numbers, and the $50mil cap.nick wrote:dont touch finances. im almost positive theyre fucked and reign put a lot of effort into fixing them.

But it sounds like Corey is saying otherwise, so did that really change?

Huh?nick wrote:im almost positive theyre fucked and reign put a lot of effort into fixing them.
Our finances are in line with the moment I took over to the previous seasons in terms of variances and trending.
So curious why do you feel they are "fucked" unless its just another one of "nick says a lot of things" type comments.
Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
i know this wont be a popular opinion but maybe it's time for a salary cap? i only say this because we might have to look at NDLB like the NDL where we need bad owners (sorry, myself included for now) or else the league doesnt run. But at the same time if a team is winning a lot they should be rewarded (better payroll).

I think the $50mil cash cap kinda does the same thing.nick wrote:i know this wont be a popular opinion but maybe it's time for a salary cap? i only say this because we might have to look at NDLB like the NDL where we need bad owners (sorry, myself included for now) or else the league doesnt run. When you finish the season, anything over $50mil in cash is taken out to get you back to $50mil. I believe it came about as some teams could have stockpiles of cash otherwise.

Praying the owner will have a change of heart and pump up our budget some. 160M last year, 158M in revenue, 148M this year

Re: 2044-Season Thread-The Bear Necessities!
Mine bumped our budget up just a tad last season but then followed that up by saying he wanted me to reach $40M in profit within the next 4 or 5 years. Keeping that in mind, I spent very little in FA only to have him send me a new message after ST. Something along the lines of "Since you're not using the money anyway I'm just going to lower your budget more".DRWebs wrote:Praying the owner will have a change of heart and pump up our budget some. 160M last year, 158M in revenue, 148M this year
