Ok... it was only 10 days. And I didn't exactly have a vehicle to go anywhere. Just the trucks that we had to pull the trailers. But still....
Its a customary NDL tradition that the home team picks up the road team for the night. Its science really.

I was out there for Nationals. I was at the Expo Square. We did venture out one night down Yale south of 40 to a restaurant that had good ribs.

Damn dude. I would of sent you downtown or Brookside to really experience the beauty of T-town. Do you do this every year? If so give me sheds up and I'll take you around a night or two.

The show is there every October, but I don't go out every year. I competed this year, so I was there the whole time. And I helped to drive one of the trucks out. Other years I've just drove out for a couple days.

Congrats! Sounds like a great opportunity, although you'll be a bit away from the salt life

Yea no salt life at all but I have had 35 years of that. Maybe once we retire and open up that Key West bar I'll be set to return.

Every time I see those around Emerald Isle, all I can think of is "Salt Wife" from Game of Thrones.

Whats a good site for apartment searching with ratings and such?
I guess good ol reliable apartment guide is still around.
Will probably rent for a couple months if not longer to get better acclimated to the area before buying a house.

Apartments.com and forrent.com are the ones we used. You can limit the searches to exactly what you want for amenities, price ranges, etc. They have pretty good virtual tours too. I was able to use that to narrow it down to like 9, and I only had part of a Saturday to go and look at all 9, but it worked out.
Check and see if your companies HR lady has anything too, mine was a part of "NPEP" which was a preferred employer program, we got a discount, and NPEP sent us a target gift card for using them too. Maybe your HR department has something similar

My last week at an organization I have been with for 14 years.
It hasnt felt real yet regarding all of this until I started packing last night, peed in a cup for my drug test, and got to work and realized I am going to be even more worthless than I usually am in my office.
Also sucked when my little one says "I want to go to Texas with you daddy".

How long will you be there without them?
