the iPhone is nice, I just can't see why anybody would want their phone maker to be able to dictate what they can do with it, what they can put on it, etc.
jsence, give it a break, everyone has their own opinion on what they like, having a phone debate anymore is like debating about politics or religion.

and Weasel, yes, the older iPhone 3GS, sorry for the confusion.

I wasn't debating. I said it was nice, and I said what I thought. Some people are ok with that, I'm not. Was just my .02

I was just telling my wife that tonight. I am an apple fan, but that commercial is very smart marketing.
And supposedly, Samsung paid money to youtube so if you search for iPhone 5, that commercial comes up as the first listed video.

Haha just tried this. It is not in the actual search results but it is the very first thing you see in the form of an ad.

That's what I said with my S2!

Is there an S4 coming out soon? I thought the S3 just was released lol. May be solid timing, I think I have a little less than a year left til I can upgrade. :)

Awesome. They're doing 1 a year, I love it!!!

I think I'll get an upgrade right around August ish of next year, so I should be able to grab one somewhat new...or in Samsung terms, ancient at 4 months old.

Don't people like Trendon hate Apple for doing this?
I am not hating on Samsung, they are my favorite television company, or Trendon, it is just funny to me when someone hates one company for barely making upgrades and releasing a new product every year or changing out their cords to force everyone to buy an adaptor, yet the majority of manufacturers do it.

And they do it with everything, not just phones.

Go buy a portable hard drive. The connection that plugs into the drive itself is different with the same brands, just different models.
Buy any cell phone from any brand, the chargers change all the time.
Buy a digital camera, they are just as bad as phone manufacturer's with 2000 different kinds of cords.
TV's, used to be red, white and yellow, then s-video, then component, the hdmi, now hdmi with ethernet.

And Jsence, yeah, you said the phone is nice, but then cut on everyone that likes it.

Did you grow up with parents that told you that you would not amount to anything, but they love you?
Or your father would punch you in the face and then tell you he loves you?
Cause that is exactly the kind of message your statement sends :D

Again, it is all personal preference. I am not going to start a 12 page conversation with you about phones, but I would like to know what you can do with your phone that I cannot do with my iPhone, that I give a shit about?

I use my phone for a few things:
1. Listen to music (Pandora, iHeartRadio, music stored on the phone, etc.)
2. Watch movies when I am travelling.
3. Play games and mess with apps at times, like the internet.
4. Use as a calendar so I can get pop up alerts to remind me of things.
5. Text friends and family
6. Make phone calls

The iPhone, along with every other smart phone on the market does those things and most of them do them very well.

I could give 2 shits less that my phone will not allow me to change the icon for my text message application.
And as far as controlling what I put on it, I will reiterate, I actually like the fact that the apps are controlled. It severely cuts down on the overabundance of shitty apps that are out there.

But again, these are just my opinions.
I do not do enough with my phone that I need an open source OS on it that allows me little tweaks that I will never use.

And don't misunderstand me, the Galaxy SIII is a very slick phone.
That is what I would go with if I was not a fan of the iPhone, but I happen to prefer the iPhone and iTunes.

Sorry that you cannot understand how a simple minded individual like myself would like a phone such as this.
I must be an idiot like the other 20.34 million iPhone users as of July 19, 2011 or the 73,734,000 iPhone users since 2007.

And I am not comparing the number of phones sold, so don't reply with Samsung or Motorola or so and so has sold this many phones, etc.
The point I am making is that just because you do not like a product, there are millions of us that do.
That is why so many companies can stay in business selling cell phones, tv's, digital cameras, refrigerators, cars, etc. as it is all personal preference.

Sorry to disappoint you.

I am :D

But I am not a pro anything or anyone either.
Meaning, I am not just pro Apple and screw everything else.

The Galaxy SIII is a very impressive phone and I am debating at this time between it and an iPhone 5 honestly.

I want the best, per my needs, that my money can buy at the time I am in need of something.
Like I said before, when I went to buy a tablet, the iPad 2 was the best thing out, so that is what I bought.

Went into RadioShack for an hdmi cable and left with an iPhone. They had 16 left for Verizon alone. Unless I have an equally bad experience with this phone I will never get another android. My Droid x had been painfully slow for the last year.

I like my Nexus7 Tablet. Been using it to take attendance and run my computer from my classroom using Splashtop. Students think it's crazy when I control my computer from anywhere in the room. Plus with Splashtop I can see the screen on my tablet so I don't even have to be looking at the computer or the projected image. Yes Splashtop is both ios and google but I had already purchased it for my phone so not having to spend extra money is a huge plus for me.

I also have other music apps on that allow me to tune my music groups faster and use the tablet as a metronome.

Cheaper than an ipad and it's completely customizable plus I can download any of my already purchased apps that I have on my cell phone.

If you haven't checked out the Nexus7 and you're looking for a cheaper tablet option check it out.

Biggest downside is that it doesn't have any tvout and it runs strictly on wifi.
